Renault Duster Oroch is a pick-up that will be making its way into India as the French automaker has been doing several customer clinics for this pick-up. Renault isn’t just working on the new Duster but even more SUVs too. Renault Kaptur will be making its way into India and so will be the Duster Oroch. This will be the company’s first pick-up and will be a smaller one when compared to the other existing market players. What will the new Duster Oroch have on offer? Read further to know more.
We reckon the Renault Duster Oroch will be unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo and it will get into production by mid of 2018. It won’t be happening anytime before that. The Renault Duster Oroch will be opening an all new segment for the French automaker and attracting new set of buyers.
|Fuel Tank||50 litres|
The Oroch is based on the Duster platform. Its wheelbase has been extended by 155mm, making it 2,829mm. There is even an increase in its overall dimensions. The Renault Duster Oroch is 4,700mm in length, 1,822mm in width and 1,894mm in height. This pick-up is a double cab and it is much shorter than the current pick-ups like the Isuzu V-Cross, Tata Xenon and the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway. The loading capacity of the Renault Duster Oroch is 683 litres. In terms of aesthetics, there isn’t major difference in the styling from the Duster. The pick-up is also likely to get the similar front grille to make it look upmarket.
We aren’t certain if Renault will add bling to the grille or make it black. The dimensions till the B-pillar (part behind the front door), will have the same dimensions as the Duster. It is after that multiple changes have been made. The Renault Duster Oroch will get roof rails and even have 16-inch wheels too. The luggage tray will even get grab rails on the side for making things stay in place.
On the inside, the Renault Duster Oroch will have the same cabin like the Duster. In terms of features, it will get keyless entry, touchscreen system with navigation and bluetooth, four speakers for the music system. Then there will be cruise control, steering mounted audio controls and even Eco mode. The features on offer will be the same like the Duster, except for maybe reverse camera. There shall be ABS and even dual airbags on offer as well. The Duster Oroch will have all-black interiors as this version has been designed for more of adventure use.
The Renault Duster Oroch’s front row will have the same space like the Duster. There shall be more than sufficient head room and leg room for tall passengers. The second row has good enough knee room, however the rear seat is more like a bench and is upright. This makes it a tad comfortable for tall occupants, especially on long journeys.
A 1.5-litre diesel engine shall be powering the Renault Duster Oroch. This will be churning about 110bhp of power and will be offered with a six-speed manual and AMT options. We aren’t certain if the Duster Oroch will even get an all-wheel drive (AWD) as the company is in the phase of deciding which variant should it launch. This is the same mill that even powers the existing Renault Duster as well. The French automaker will continue selling new cars on this same platform and even if the new-gen Duster will come in, the current platform will have new products like the Renault Kaptur.
|Type of Area||Mileage|
|Lowest expected||INR 12 lakhs|
|Highest expected||INR 14 lakhs|
It is a bit early to state the exact pricing of the Duster Oroch, however the pick-up should be priced somewhere in between INR 12 lakhs to INR 14 lakhs (on-road price). This should be cheaper than the Duster and a practical choice for those who are looking at carrying loads of luggage.
Renault Duster Oroch
Renault Duster Oroch will be a new exciting product. We aren't certain how does the market respond to it. The Isuzu V-Cross has got an amazing response for a pick-up, so sometime could be expected for the Duster Oroch also.
