The Honda HRV will be launched in India by late 2019 or early 2020. The new HRV has been unveiled in Indonesia this year already. The Honda HRV will get refreshed interiors for India. It will be a cost-effective platform.
Honda HRV India Price in India
|Base Petrol||₹16 lakhs|
|Petrol Automatic||₹23 lakhs|
|Base Diesel||₹ 19 lakhs|
|Top-model Diesel||₹22 lakhs|
The HRV will have competitive pricing. Honda would price it in a way that it coincides with the Compass/Harrier. This would be around ₹16 lakhs to ₹22 lakhs (on-road) and would provide tough competition to the Harrier.
Honda HRV India Mileage
The Honda HR-V will have fuel-efficient engines, just like the Honda City and WRV. It will share the same engines, with a slight tweak for better drivability and performance. Hence, there will be very little difference in the fuel efficiency figures. Buyers in this segment look at performance more than fuel efficiency.

Honda HRV India Specifications
6-speed M / CVT
The Honda HRV will get a 1.6-litre petrol engine. It will churn out 132bhp of power and about 170Nm of maximum torque. A six-speed manual and CVT will be the transmission options offered. Honda would like to focus on this engine as it will get a good number for it. This will have a decent demans as it is a powerful engine.
The other engine will be a 1.6-litre diesel. It will produce about 132bhp of power and 250Nm of peak torque. This engine is the one shared with the City and also the WRV, however, it will be tweaked for better performance. This shall be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, Honda may also offer a CVT with this engine. The Honda HR-V will also be tweaked to offer better performance. The diesel engine is anyways high on performance and mileage as it is lightweight. However, Honda would want to work on its NVH levels.
Honda HRV India Design
The 2018 Honda HRV receives exterior styling updates to further expand its appeal. The grille is enhanced by dark chrome that is extending over the new projector-style headlights. Under the chrome band, the grille opening has been restyled to emphasize a wide look. The fog light housings are enlarged to help give HR-V a more aggressive stance. In the rear, new smoked turn signal lenses are connected by a thin chrome band, lending an upscale air to HRV’s exterior.
HR-V Sport features unique lower body trim, painted glossy black on the lower front and rear bumper, rocker panels, and wheel arches, as well as the gloss-black exterior mirrors. HR-V Sport also receives a honeycomb pattern grille, exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels and tires, and in the rear, there’s a chrome exhaust finisher.
The new line-topping HR-V Touring trim flanks its honeycomb grille with multi-element Honda LED headlights that are unique in the HR-V lineup, as are the 5-element LED fog lights. Touring models come with exclusive 17-inch machined alloy wheels, for an upscale look. HR-V Touring also comes with similar lower-body trim as Sport, but painted body color rather than gloss black, along with the body-color outside mirrors.
We don’t know what all from this impressive list of exterior details will make it to India but we can expect a lot of it to come when the car comes to India next year.
The bigger sibling CR-V is also designed in a crossover format and the HRV carries a similar design language. It is a good looking vehicle though and will also have a good road presence. It is sure to turn heads and its design will be one of its high selling points.
A coupe-styled roofing is seen here, with a downward slope at the rear. The rear door handle has been moved to next to the window and is hidden, giving it a two-door look. A clean silhouette adorns the HR-V and it has minimal lines running across. The rear has large tail lamps that give it a bold look and it has an integrated rear spoiler as well. These elements make the HR-V quite appealing and eye-catching too. There is also a shark fin antenna on the roof towards the rear. The part below the bumpers is black in color, which gives it a purposeful look.

There is also a shift from smaller SUVs expected to happen in future. Small SUV users will be upgrading to this particular segment that will have the 2018 Honda HRV.

Now we bring you some updated news. This car will not be coming to India. Targeting first-time car buyers, Maruti Wagon R will be launched only in South Asian countries. Also, the Maruti Eeco and the Maruti Omni are filling the gap which was thought to be filled by the Wagon R 7 Seater. The Eeco and Omni will be refreshed and updated soon. (more…)

The car will also get a The New Mahindra Thar 2020 will also get the option of a hardtop roof which will be removable and could have an integrated sunroof. There will also be many other customization options that will be available on the car from the factory itself. Mahindra could give a lot of accessories options too.
New Mahindra Thar 2020 Interiors
This is where the car is set to have the most improvement. A wider car means more space inside. More space means more storage options and more comfort. The New Mahindra Thar 2020 will finally get the comfort equipment one expects the car to come with at this price point.
New Mahindra Thar 2020 Specifications
The current engine of the Mahindra Thar is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit with a manual 5-speed gearbox and a manual 4WD system. This same setup should continue in the New Mahindra Thar 2020, with the engine being BS6 ready. We can also see Mahindra offering the Thar in a slick automatic variant for people who want the car as a style statement.
New Mahindra Thar 2020 Spy Shots
A camouflaged version of the New Mahindra Thar 2020 has been spotted testing by a leading publication. Launched in 2010, the Thar is due for a generation change. The current car will certainly not be able to meet new crash test norms coming in 2020. Thus, Mahindra has started working on a new generation car which has now been spotted.
The above image shows a wider body of the Mahindra Thar. The image shows the car with a bigger body and a wider wheel arches. The windscreen is bigger too. The car also seams the old halogen headlamps, but we can expect the production car to get projector units. There is a new shorter bumper too.
The car also right now seems to have pre-production indicators and taillamps. The car is very wide now. And even the windscreen is now fixed and cannot fold.
New Mahindra Thar 2020 Competition
The Mahindra Thar is going to pull more crowds when it is launched in a brand new generation than it is already achieving. People still by the Mahindra Thar for being more user-friendly and having some creature comforts than the Force Gurkha. The Thar triumphed over the Gypsy with its engine, capability and Maruti’s reluctance to market and sell the Gypsy. But with Maruti planning to get the Jimny to India soon and Force Motors upping the capability of the Gurkha, a New Mahindra Thar 2020 on the horizon is good for Mahindra.
Mahindra XUV300 review: Ticking every box!
Now a few things I have to be clear about before you dwell deeper into this review. First, the car I will be talking about here is going to be the 1.5-litre diesel because Mahindra made us experience that particular vehicle only. The second, any review is not complete without the price and us telling you the cars price and if you should consider buying the car or not. The price of the XUV300 has not been announced yet and the Mahindra has said that it will be priced similarly to its competition. Phew! Now we are ready to start.
The XUV300! The name is bang on (hope the price is too). I’ll get to the design in a minute, but let’s just talk about the name and what the car means. For the past few years, we have been seeing and experiencing the Mahindra XUV500 and the image of that car is now very clear in my mind. We think of space, the cheetah-inspired front and a feature loaded cabin when we think of the XUV500. So on paper now that is all true about the XUV300 too. It is an SUV(which for Indians translates to more space than a hatchback), it’s got the similar and cool XUV500 fascia and a barrage of segment first features which I will explain in depth further. So does this combination come together and make a car that can go and do battle with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Honda WRV? Let’s talk about specifications.
Specifications and Safety
The Mahindra XUV300 comes with two engine options, both of which are only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 110bhp and 200Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that makes 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. Now there is no automatic on offer and Mahindra said that getting an automatic gearbox soon will be a priority. The monocoque suspension setup includes a McPherson Strut with Anti-roll bars at the front and a Twist beam with coil springs at the rear. The tyre size is 215/55 R17 with Alloy wheels and a full-size spare wheel with a steel rim. Now the base variants will not get the big wheels. To know more about the lower variants and the features and specs breakdown – click here.
Another cheetah inspired look! We know how much Mahindra loves their animals. The shark is the apex predator of the sea and the cheetah is the fastest mammal on the land. Imagine the day Mahindra combines the two and XUazzo1000 is born. Let’s forget about that now and concentrate on the baby cheetah. The Mahindra XUV300‘s headlamps integrate with the fog lamps forming a Cheetah-like tear-duct, the same the kind of design that we see on the facelifted XUV500. The pronounced wheel arches give the car a butch look but at the same time at the rear make it more difficult for passengers to get in. Its grille looks like a smaller version of the XUV500s and the sculpted bonnet along with the pronounced shoulder & body lines give the XUV300 a solid stance. The dual LED DRLs and bold LED tail lamps are a good and necessary touch but the rear taillights look very weird and do not carry the fierce and dominating look the car is trying to impose at the front.
Overall the XUV300’s design is a solid foundation for Mahindra to update and keep adding too.
Plush-is the first word that comes to mind. Plusher than many of its rivals at least. The Mahindra XUV300 get leather upholstery and soft-touch materials around the whole car. The leather-wrapped steering wheels. The car gets a lot of storage too. The 265-litre boot is small though and with the 60-40 split is not that great too. Let’s just get over the bad stuff. Ingress and Egress at the rear are difficult. Once you are in, there is enough legroom and headroom for someone with a height of me like 5’10 but the recline on the seat is just not enough. The adjustable headrests at the rear in this case really help the upper body and neck. While dual-zone climate controls are a good touch, rear AC vents are missing. We were testing this car in a moderate climate and the cabin does cool quickly enough but during summers this could be an issue for rear seat passengers. The all-around visibility is good and the sunroof is again a good addition to the interior. The rear windshield does seem to be a little small but here I could be nit-picking as the Vitara Brezza also does not have a really big windshield. The buttons, some picked from the Alturas are really good and quality is much better than other cars, Mahindra has also synced there infotainment with a lot of features. The front parking sensors alert and the rear parking camera work well. The speakers are not the best in class when it comes to sound quality and the Ford EcoSport does have better speakers. 1-litre bottles can easily be fitted in the door pockets while the front and rear row cupholders could hold an energy drink can easily. The car also gets 7 airbags which is a segment first. The instrument cluster also has got a lot of new features like wheels position and direction which is good to know before you start the car and set off in a wrong direction or if you are in a tight spot. To know more about the features in the XUV300 variant wise – click here.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine in the XUV300 is the same unit as the Mahindra Marazzo. But as been tuned for the XUV300 differently. Now the problem here is that it does not have it’s a single mindset. It should have been a torque monster as a Mahindra should be or even as the numbers say it should be. Don’t get me wrong, the car is adequately powerful. The problem is the small power band. Now you can tell me that a diesel engine has a low-rpm setup but when the power is only there available from 1500 to 3500 rpm, you are left wanting for more. But this is in the initial 1st and 2nd gear, Once the car gets moving. There is no problem. The XUV300 has a great ride and it’s highway cruising face comes up. You want to gain speed, throw it in 4th and smash the right side pedal and the torque reveals its face. Slot 5th, and now you are really moving and the car is ready to accelerate quicker, The electronically controlled variable turbocharger in the XUV300 takes a few seconds to realize the power demand but once the boost is ready, and you know powerband, the XUV300 is fun to drive. The performance comes with a good arsenal of features like 4 disc brakes (a segment first), ESP and steering mode (to toggle the sportiness of the steering) and to back it up. The XUV300 also does not mind going off-road a bit. We threw the car on rocky slopes and broken rocks with ease and the car soaked up the punishment well. At the drive, Mahindra told us that the unladen ground clearance is 180mm which we think is an underestimate because we took it off road. But if that is the case, we really think that it is low for this car. The cabin does get filled with engine noise at high speed but nothing very serious. The XUV300 drives great overall and even though official figures are not out yet and we will have to test the car’s mileage, it should return around 12km/l to 15km/l at least.
The features, specs and safety really make the Mahindra XUV300 a great package. The car’s verdict really rests with the price which will be announced on 14th of February. The car will be competing with the Vitara Brezza, EcoSport, WRV and Nexon. Bookings are open now and we think if the car is priced under 14 lakhs for its top-end model, it should be seriously considered by you if you are in the market for a feature loaded sub-four metre SUV.

2019 Maruti Wagon R review: Made for India, by India
The Maruti Wagon R has been one of India’s top selling cars for a very long time now. The car is widely used in the commercial sector and has been a trusty steed for those who are first time buyers. Many swear by the cars no-nonsense approach to motoring and the immense amount of practicality it has on offer. So what has changed in new generation 2019 Maruti Wagon R? A lot. This is no longer a car that we are now used to seeing in the traffic as an Uber or something that is going annoyingly slow in the first lane of the highway. The 2019 Maruti Wagon R is here with a host of different updates and new features. It is different from the Wagon R sold in Japan. It is built for India, by India. Maruti has engineered and built a car that is specifically for our country, road conditions and customer needs.
Specifications and Safety
The new Wagon R is also based on Suzuki’s latest Heartect platform. Benefits of the new platform are better dynamics, overall lighter and improved overall safety. The Heartect platform also results in more space in the cabin. The new Wagon R is wider longer and has got more legroom and knee room than before. The car shares most of its dynamics, proportions with Maruti’s NEXA offering, the Ignis. Along with the new platform the new Wagon R continues to get the old 1.0-litre 3 cylinder engine that makes 68bhp and a new much powerful 1.2-litre engine four-cylinder K12 engine. The option of the 83hp engine is in response to the demands of customers wanting more power in the Wagon R. In terms of safety now, the car now comes with ABS and EBD as standard across all variants. Also standard is the driver side airbags, seatbelt reminder for driver and passenger, central locking, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and child-proof rear door locks.
With the overall length of 3655mm, a width of 1620mm and height of 1675mm, new 2019 Wagon R is certainly bigger. Maruti has designed the car to give it a robust look. At the front, the car gets new headlamps which are a departure from the square like headlamps that are seen on the older Wagon R. The headlamps are a unique dual split unit which will make the car look more modern. Could Maruti have offred DRLs and projector headlights on this unit? It would have been a segment first and a really good premium feature to have. But as we know manufacturers like to save features for a facelift and if the Baleno has just got them now, so could the Wagon R and Ignis in the future soon. The car now gets a modern architecture chrome grille. There are new lines on the car too. The bonnet and the side carry these distinctive lines which make the car look bigger and better. On the side, we also see a new design element on the rear, C pillar. The design looks like the car has sideburns on the rear and is also a little bit more distinctive. The rear has a very sculpted look with the big new taillamps which look like they are inspired by the new Ertiga. The chrome strip on the boot now carries the name WagonR on it.
Overall this car now looks very proportionate and very distinctive. The car still does not get stuff like alloy wheels in the top variant, DRLs, and a small shark fin antenna. The car could have done with chunkier wheels too. Speaking of the wheels, the wheel arches have no cladding and the exposed metal welds look very bad. But these shortcomings are a not a dealbreaker for someone who is looking for a new Wagon R. Many accessories are going to be offered in this car. To know more about accessories on the new Wagon R – Click here
The first thing that one experiences when entering the Wagon R is the amount of space available. The car has now got more space than ever. The ingress-egress is the best on the Wagon R and this only gets better on the new car. The cabin feels airy and the large glass area gives one a great view out of the cabin too. The cabin itself now looks better and gets a dual-tone black-and-beige theme upholstery. The new touchscreen system which is the new Smartplay Studio – 17.78 cm Touchscreen Infotainment is good and gets a really nice UI. Paired with this new touchscreen, one gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB/AUX controls and Steering mounted controls. This system also offers AHA, an internet radio service. What is really a let down is the 2 speakers that come with this system. A couple of tweeters added or a four-speaker system would have been ideal. Also, the car now gets power windows as standard and comes with Auto Down function for the driver side.
Under the touchscreen, we get the AC controls, which are a manual unit and is fairly simple to use. There is also a charging socket underneath and storage space. Storage is not a problem with all door easily accommodating 1-liter bottles each and a unique storage solution with an undertray on the co-drivers side. Practicality has been the Wagon R’s key offering, and the new model only improves in this area. Boot space is now 341 litres, this makes it more spacious than the Vitara Brezza. Except for the base variant, the seats split 60:40 which make for more storage. Some drawbacks at the rear are that the loading lip is a bit high and parcel tray does not have strings so that it can tilt up when the boot is opened.
We experienced the 1.2-litre engine in the Wagon R with it’s manual and AMT variants. The 1.2-litre engine has already proven itself as a good engine in the Baleno, Ignis, Swift and DZire. The 83bhp engine on the 845kg car feels more than adequate. The gearshifts are very smooth have no problem at all. This new engine in the Wagon R loves to be revved and surprisingly picks up speed quickly. The wider track of the Heartect platform have improved stability and handling too. Straight line acceleration is liner and the car does not mind being in the 5000-6000 rev range. While there is no strain on the engine and the car feels like it has more to give after the mid-range powerband is over, at the top end this car is noisy. The tyre noise and high revving engine combination make for a noisy cabin. Noise insulation can be a bit better. Also we can see the lack of grip with the 165/70/R14 tyres. They are great tyres for economical drives, but push them to fast in a corner and the little wheels do feel like they are on the edge of grip. The new powerful engine and the manual gearbox do make for a very enjoyable drive. We do think that a larger and wider set of tyres will make the car a bit more engaging and better.
Thoughts on the AMT? Well, this will be loved by city-dwellers and while it is not the best AMT out there it is a good unit. The upshifts are slow and the car tends to be stuck in the lower gears before making its mind to shift up. This can easily be solved with the manual mode at your disposal. The gearshifts are much more responsive now and your control over the gear selection is now maximized.
Our final verdict for this new Wagon R is a bit unorthodox. We have spoken about the 1.2-litre engine that we experienced. But given the price of the 1.2-litre engine and the features one gets at the price point it’s a very expensive deal. What a Wagon R owner is really after is efficiency, practicality, and the best Value For Money deal. Because of this, the car that we would recommend is the Wagon R 1.0-litre. The 1.2-litre with the Zxi variant is not going to offer a lot more features than the top-end Vxi variant of the 1.0-litre car. The VXI AMT makes a lot of sense. It gets the space, the efficiency and for everyday city driving, it’s an excellent choice.

2019 Maruti Baleno launched at Rs 5.45 lakhs (Ex-showroom,Delhi)
The 2019 Maruti Baleno has been finally launched. This was the car which gave the premium hatchback segment a boost. While being spacious and feature loaded, it is economical as well. It has an impressive road presence and is large in size. The interiors are also roomy and feel quite airy. The Baleno is Maruti’s premium offering, hence it is sold from Nexa Experience showrooms. When it was in its production stage, we were the first to share its images, way back in November 2014. The car was codenamed ‘YRA’ then. The facelift version will mark three years of its launch.
The Maruti Baleno 2019 has turned out to be an aspirational car for buyers. It is a good combination of performance and fuel efficiency. Along with that is the reliability of the Maruti brand. It is priced well. It provides loads of space, for a hatchback. With petrol and diesel options, customers are spoiled for choice. The 2019 Maruti Baleno also gets styling updates. These updates will make it stand out. There are more features added and the lower variants will get features from the top variant as well. Hence an update. Volkswagen T-Cross to rival Hyundai Creta : Revealed, pics and specifications
Volkswagen has finally revealed the 2019 VW T-Cross SUV. The teaser sketches of what will become the company’s smallest SUV on sale were shown earlier. Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze was the compact SUV concept that was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. As the German maker is getting set for a global launch of this new compact SUV, sourced confirm that Volkswagen is getting the T-Cross to India and will be taking on the Hyundai Creta in a segment totally ignored by the company.
This is particularly interesting as the Creta did not have any head on competitor till Renault launched the Captur. The Volkswagen T-Cross will be an interesting product for India and the company will hope for to grab a larger pie with this compact SUV.

The Xylo will not be able to meet the crash test norms, hence, Mahindra will be discontinuing it. The TUV300 Plus. will also be launched and this will be an SUV, which will also replace the Xylo. This will be based on the TUV platform and will be longer. It is likely to be a 9-seater SUV and it will be made for commercial and rural purposes majorly.
