The new generation Honda Civic was showcased earlier this year, at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Honda Civic 2019 is underpinned by a new platform. This will be the first time this platform comes to India. The car is a part of the 3 car strategy Honda has for India. The cars that are part of this deal were the Honda Civic, the new Honda Amaze and the new Honda CRV. The CR-V and the Amaze have been already launched. The Civic is next in-line/
Now previously, according to one leading publication, the engines options for the Civic would only be the petrol variants. The 1.8-litre and 1.6-litre engines were only going to be there for sale. But recently at the launch of the 2018 Honda CRV we were given a conformation by Honda that the car will indeed have a diesel engine option. Could it be a 1.6-litre the CRV with a higher stage of tune or will it be a bigger engine all-together? We will have to wait to find that out. Honda is planning to increase its footprint in premium vehicles and hence the Civic and the CR-V are arriving, in their new generation. What will the Honda Civic 2019 be like? Would you buy one? Read further for more details.

Honda Civic 2019 Specifications
The petrol engine in the Honda Civic 2019 will be a 1.8-litre i-VTEC. It will churn out a power of 140bhp and 210Nm of torque. It will be a high revving unit and also very smooth at the same time. This engine will have strong performance without any compromise on the fuel efficiency either. Honda at the moment, is testing the 1.8-litre petrol engine for India. In other markets, there is even a 1.5-litre turbo petrol, which won’t be launched in India.
The diesel on the other hand is confirmed for launch in India. But Honda is very tight lipped about it’s specs. The diesel engine could be the CRV’s 1.6-litre mill. The 1.6-litre is going to be made here. The Civic could also be the first car in this segment to get two diesel engine options with a 2.0-litre engine being a variant. The only downside with the diesel engine is that it will not get an automatic gearbox. A six-speed manual will be the only variant on offer. There is a possibility of the car coming with a automatic gearbox in the diesel variant in the future.
