Kia Motors has had quite a successful run in the country since its first debut. Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet have equally set a firm foot in their respective segments. However, Kia’s first premium MPV for the country, the Carnival, has not done a very great run. Kia, we believe, is now preparing a compact MPV for the country, codenamed KY, which will rival multiple cars around its price bracket, once it is launched here. In this article, we will discuss the Kia Rs 12 Lakh MPV and find out what it will be like.
Design
The Kia MPV is expected to be a sporty-looking product with modern styling, similar to its affordable cousins, the Seltos and the Sonet. The product is expected to sport 17-inch tyres as standard. The MPV will sport the brand’s signature tiger-nose grille which makes the cars from Kia stand apart. However, the compact MPV will be based on the Seltos’ platform with the MPV coming with an increased overhang.
Interiors
The Kia MPV will be a 7-seater on the inside, similar to its rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. The Kia is expected to come with plush and upmarket interiors. The interior could be based on a dual-tone theme. The Kia MPV might also be offered with captain seats in some variants.
Features
The Kia MPV is expected to come with all modern features to make it a value-for-money product. Moreover, bringing more features will help the brand compete with the already established rivals. Touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, air-purifier, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, 3rd-row AC vents and charging ports, ambient mood lighting, BOSE premium music system and other such features might be offered with the MPV.
Engine & Transmission
With the Seltos and the Sonet coming with differences in power figures, we are expecting the brand to bring the MPV with powers buffed up in similar fashion. The variants, however, are expected to remain the same with the premium GT-line also on offer. The engine output is also expected to reach up to 150bhp in some configurations.
Kia Rs 12 Lakh MPV Rivals & Launch
The Kia Rs 12 Lakh MPV will compete with multiple cars around its segment. It will directly compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo and to some extent, the Toyota Innova as well. The product, however, is also expected to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Hyundai Creta 7-seater as well.
The Kia KY is expected to launch somewhere around the end of this year or the Q1 of next year.
