Suzuki Gixxer 250

The new Suzuki Gixxer 250 (GSX 250) will be unveiled at the 2016 Intermit Motorcycle Show or at EICMA, which will be in November. This bike is rumoured to be called as Suzuki GSX R250 as per some reports. The reports confirm that Suzuki has trademarked these names.

This bike will be making its way into India. The Gixxer 150 with its full fairing sibling Gixxer 150 SF has been doing well in India. This quarter-litre bike takes its inspiration from the GSX-R range of motorocycles. The bike will be made available in other markets by the end of 2016 or early 2017. For India, it is due to make its entry by mid 2017. This will be a more powerful bike on offer, especially for those who need more power and won’t settle for the Gixxer 150.

The Gixxer 250 will offer a 250cc engine, liquid-cooled and will come mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine will churn about 28bhp of power and will come with upside down forks. The other important aspect, ABS will be offered as a standard feature.

The Gixxer 250 will be much more expensive than the Gixxer SF. We expect the on-road pricing of this bike to be close to INR 1.6 lakhs (on-road) and the highest about INR 1.8 lakhs. The goal will be to under cut competition.

BMW G310R

This is an all new bike, which will be manufactured in India and exported globally. BMW has tied-up with TVS to contract manufacture this bike. The G310R is a pretty aggressive looking sporty bike which the German two wheeler manufacturer is about to bring in India soon. The street fighter is being built at TVS Motors’ Hosur plant as a part of the BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor’s collaboration. Like the TVS Akula inspired TVS Apache RTR 300, the G310R also gets power from the same engine. The bike has a V-shaped headlamp, while the headlamp cowl comes sporting a fully digital instrument cluster sitting on top. The fuel tank looks high rising and with the sculpted appearance it gives the bike a very masculine character. The bike comes with R badging positioned at the headlamp cowl and the sharp side cowls.

The G310R has a liquid cooled 4-stroke, single cylinder, 313cc engine that is mated to a 6-speed transmission, The engine churns out 34bhp @9,500 and torque of 28Nm @7,500rpm. The engine is tuned to offer seamless performance and designed keeping city riders in mind.

BMW G310 GS Adventure

BMW has plans to bring an adventure motorcycle in the Indian market, which is the BMW G310 GS Adventure. Similar to the G310R it will also be built at the TVS Motors’ Hosur plant in India. The adventure bike segment in India in growing and ja few manufacturers are looking at this segment. The BMW G310 GS Adventure will rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The BMW G310 GS Adventure is an on/off road machine which can tackle any kind of terrain. Rough roads and cross country biking will be its forte.

This one will be a mini adventure bike. We haven’t seen many adventure bikes under 350cc in India. The only that was made available was the Hero Impulse. This one missed out on performance. In terms of styling, it looks a lot different from the G310R. There is the long travel suspension, of course off road tyres and adventure-bike styling. The BMW G310 GS Adventure gets the same 313 cc single cylinder liquid cooled fuel injected engine which is mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine churns out 34 PS of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm in the BMW G310R. There is a chance that the G310 GS might get some variations in torque delivery.

2017 KTM Duke 390

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 is expected to make its global debut at the Milan Motorcycle Show in Italy this year. The new-generation Duke range will not just be powerful but will also have several first-in-class features also.

The split headlamp design fro the bigger Duke will trickle down into the new 2017 KTM Duke 390. The fuel tank will be larger that will make the bike look bulky and big. There will be new LED headlamp, and this will be one of the first in its segment. It will get a TFT coloured instrument cluster and even get mobile sync option. So, one can see the navigation on the instrument cluster. These are some of the exciting features that will be offered on the 2017 Duke 390. The company is raising the bar making it difficult for competition to sustain. With its India production, the cost of manufacturing has come down drastically.

The same 373cc engine will be used for the Duke 390. However, this time there will be a bump in power to 44-49 bhp. This will make the bike a lot more powerful. There are rumours that recommend that a second balancer could also be added and the cylinder’s head weight shall be reduced. The bike’s engine will be lighter than before. The response from the accelerator will be even better as this bike will get Ride By Wire technology.

Bajaj Kratos VS 400

Aggressive styling, sporty looks makes this bike look amazing. This bike is one of the most sporty looking Bajaj bike. It is definitely much bigger and wider than the bikes in thePulsar family. The large front headlamp looks stylish and this makes it a strong case for itself. This is one of the most stylish looking bikes in its segment. A blacked out headlamp is also present. The alloy wheels look uber cool. Bajaj Kratos VS400 has a big size fuel tank that makes it look macho. In terms of equipment, it will have a perimeter frame. There will be large digital display instrument cluster. The Kratos has a twin LED tail lamp at the rear. There are LED turn indicators.

Bajaj will be offering the Kratos VS400 with a 373cc single-cylinder engine. We reckon this will be offered with two variants, one will be carbureted and other fuel injection. The former will produce 34bhp of power and the latter with 43bhp. Bajaj will be offering dual channel ABS and slipper clutch on the latter model. It surely is a bit too early to close on some of the aspects of this bike. However, the transmission will be a six-speed one.
