Hyundai Creta 2019 gets a Sports Edition

The is Creta is one of the most popular cars in the Indian market. The car came to India in 2014 and was an instant hit with buyers. It is manufactured in Hyundai’s Tamil Nadu factory along with cars like the Eon, Grand i10, new-gen Verna, Elantra, Tucson, i20 Active and the i20. This year with the Creta, we saw a much-needed facelift for the car. With that, we also got a new engine in the form of the 1.6-liter petrol mated to an automatic gearbox.

The Hyundai Creta 2019 will have the same platform as the current generation car. It will have the same engine options too. But such small updates are very important for this car. The Creta will have to watch it’s back with the upcoming Kia SP, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and the MG India SUV.

Hyundai Creta 2019 Price

The price of the Hyundai Creta will more or less remain the same. There will be no changes to that. The Hyundai Creta 2019 will be similarly priced as the 2018 car.

The price for the Creta starts at 10.98 lakhs (On-road Mumbai) and goes up to 18 lakhs (On-road Mumbai). This price is not going to be changed with the Hyundai Creta 2019.

Hyundai Creta Sports Edition

The competition in the mid-size  SUV has risen to different heights. The Hyundai Creta is an answer to theses new SUVs which have been in the market. The Sports edition is just another name that Creta has come up with to update the existing Creta.  The car gets cosmetic updates and cosmetic tweaks with a few additional features.

This version is available manual gearbox version of the 1.6-liter petrol and diesel Creta. The sports edition has been priced at 12.78 Lakgs for the 1.6 Petrol MT and  14.13 Lakh for the 1.6 Diesel MT version. It is only available in 2 paint schemes-The Phantom Black and Polar White with Phantom Black Roof. To get a dual-tone paint scheme it adds 11,000 to the overall price. This makes the car the most customizable car.

Talking about the exterior it gets a Smoked effect for the projector setup. The dark chrome finish for the grille, silver roof rails and skid plates give it a good stance. The Faux dual exhaust tips finished in chrome, black mirror casings and rear spoilers are some of the additional features.

The interior of the car also gets an all-black color scheme. It gets black fabric seats with Creta embossed on them. In addtion to that the steering is leather-wrapped and it gets contrast stitching. The silver surrounds for the AC vents top it off. And all is sealed with an electric sunroof.

The Variant is placed over the SX variant and gets all these new features. These include automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7.0 touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and cruise control and wireless smartphone charging, cruise control and wireless smartphone charging. The Dual Airbags and ABS are standard as well.

Compared to the SX variant, the Hyundai Creta Sports Edition’s price is about Rs 54,000- 60,000 higher, taking into account all the cosmetic and feature additions.

Dimensions, size, and most exterior elements will remain the same. There will be no changes to that. This car has only just received an update with its facelift this year. There could be subtle changes in this car’s model year life where a new variant is launched or a new special edition comes.

The interior might receive new color options. The silver and beige combination on the current Creta looks dull and Hyundai should consider adding some better options and replacing it on the Hyundai Creta 2019. The seats too will receive an update with fabric and leather options. This Creta already comes with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There is a sunroof option on the SX and SX (O) variant. There is ample storage space. There is also a good amount of boot space. There are cup holders in every door and in the front and rear arm-rest. All these great things are going to continue on the Hyundai Creta 2019 too.

When it comes to mileage, the Creta diesel will return 18km/l in the city to 22km/l on the highway. The petrol will do 12km/l in the city to 15km/l on the highway. (all ARAI figures)

Engine options will remain the same with the diesel getting the 1.4-litre and 1.6litre options. The newly introduced petrol option is the 1.6-litre engine which also gets an automatic gearbox. The additional features that are available with the 1.6-litre auto over the SX manual are cruise control, auto dimming rear view mirror and 17-inch alloys.

The Creta never really faced any completion and was in a segment of its own. But with big SUVs like the Tata Hexa, XUV 500 and lifestyle SUVs like the Jeep Compass coming in at its price point there cannot be said much about it not having completion. Even compact SUVs like the Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza have made a case for themselves as being amazing value for money propositions in front of the Creta.
