15th August was a mega day for car enthusiasts in the country. We had two blockbuster launch events from two homegrown Manufactures – Ola and Mahindra. For all the details of the Ola Story click here. Mahindra revealed the Thar.e and its Global Pik Up concept. The brand also revealed some interesting bits about its future-born electric cars. Another thing it confirmed was that it is electrifying its entire ICE lineup and that includes the Bolero. In today’s article, let’s talk about Mahindra Bolero EV.

Details

Mahindra Bolero EV

Mahindra revealed its new logo for the Born Electric cars. The brand also confirmed its intentions to convert all its ICE cars into EVs. However, unlike the usual route of just cramming an electric motor into the ICE chassis, Mahindra is taking a different route. All its electrified ICE SUVs will be based on the new INGLO platform. That means they will be ground up EVs. This includes the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e. Mechanicals will be new, but we can expect Mahindra to retain some original elements of the ICE cars on their EVs.

Specifications

The powertrain option will include a single or dual-motor setup. We could see three types of motor options. One is a front motor with a 107bhp and 135Nm of torque. Then we have a rear powertrain that comes with a 281bhp and 535Nm of torque. We also have another rear powertrain that comes with 227bhp and 380Nm of torque. The electric powertrains will be sourced from Volkswagen and Valeo. Mahindra didn’t reveal the battery spec and range for any of its upcoming electric cars.

Mahindra Bolero EV – Launch

Mahindra Thar.e front

The Bolero.e is still a long way away from seeing the light of day. Before that, Mahindra plans to launch four new EVs in the next three years. This includes the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05 and BE.07. After that we could probably see the production version of Thar.e concept and other Born Electric cars. So most likely we could see the Bolero.e after 2027.
