2024 Mahindra Thar 5-door spotted! Sunroof and more spotted
The Mahindra Thar single-handedly made the lifestyle SUV segment popular in the country. However, a family person would avoid buying the Thar due to space constraints. To lure such a buyer Mahindra is working on the Thar 5-door model. We have been covering the car in detail, and new spy shots have emerged, giving us more insights into the SUV. In today’s article, let’s talk about the 2024 Mahindra Thar.
Spy images
The spy images were sent to us by one of our readers, Jaisha Tony. In the spy shots, we can see the heavily camouflaged test mule of the Thar 5-door. The most obvious change has to be the LED headlamps. Also, the test mule comes with the same alloy design as the 3-door version. Though not visible in spy shots, Jaisha said that he spotted a sunroof on this test mule. Also, the test mule looks massive in its road presence, completely dwarfing the Alcazar parked besides it.
2024 Mahindra Thar – What else do we know?
The Thar 5-door will be based on a modified ladder-on-frame chassis like the Scorpio-N. We could also see the Thar 5-door share its engines with the Scorpio-N. This means we could see the 2.0-litre petrol engine (200bhp/370Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). Both engines should come with manual and automatic gearbox options.
Other expected things
Mahindra is expected to tweak the exterior and interior design a bit. In the interior, we could see a new dashboard layout with bigger infotainment. Other changes could include new upholstery, a new centre armrest, and more storage spaces.
2024 Mahindra Thar – Launch timeline
Mahindra has clearly stated that it will not be launching the Thar 5-door on 15th August, instead it will showcase the Thar EV concept on that date. What about the Thar 5-door? The Thar 5-door will be launched sometime in 2024. Considering Mahindra’s past launches, we can expect it on 26th January or 15th August. Pricing-wise, the Thar 5-door could start from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
