Maruti Rs 7 lakh premium hatchback to come soon
The Maruti Baleno is the only premium hatchback that Maruti sells today. It is been quite a while since this car has received some updates or has been revamped. Today we are going to look at a Rs 7 lakh premium hatchback that we expect Maruti to bring in the next year.
Current state of Maruti Baleno ?
Maruti Baleno is the oldest when it comes to premium sedans currently in the Indian market. It has been five years since the car has been there and has received a new engine, some more features with minor facelifts. The Tata Altroz and the new Hyundai i20 which have been recently launched directly rival this premium hatchback. It is now time that Maruti update the Baleno and brings a Rs 7 lakh premium hatchback to the Indian car market.
Features on rivals
Maruti Baleno needs to get updated to be better than the Swift. As of now, the Swift gets certain features like the cruise control that are not even seen on the Baleno. Of course, the Baleno is a much bigger and spacious car than the Swift but the close price difference makes it difficult to choose over the Swift.
On the other hand, the Hyundai i20 is a very feature-packed vehicle. The i20 comes with sunroof, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, connected car tech and many other features. On the other hand, the Tata Altroz offers a five-star safety rating because of its platform. This makes the Tata Altroz unique in the premium hatchback segment. The i20 will soon be offered with the N-line variant as well.
Features we could see?
We could see some features like digital instrument cluster and cruise control on this Rs 7 lakh Maruti premium hatchback. There needs bee connected car tech that would offer a lot of new features like voice control and remote access. Maruti will provide this car with a premium sound system. We are not sure about features like a sunroof and ventilated seats to appear on this car.
Other changes
We could see some changes to the interiors of the Baleno. Light colored interiors might be seen with the new car. These interiors will make the car feel airy and spacious. There will be a new dashboard design and a bigger touchscreen which, will be carry forwarded to other bigger Maruti cars.
New engine
The Maruti Baleno has been spotted testing with a diesel engine in the past. We think that Maruti might launch a new diesel engine which would feature on this Rs 7 lakh premium hatchback. The reason for providing a diesel engine would be to beat both the rivals which offer good diesel engines in the segment. Also being a Maruti 1.5-litre diesel engine it will be fuel-efficient and easy on the pocket.
Another option we might see here is – Hybrid power with the petrol engine. The next generation Maruti Vitara Brezza is going to be a hybrid. This technology will come down to Nexa products like Baleno.
