The Kia Sonet launched in September 2020 is performing quite good in terms of overall performance. This sub-compact SUV sold 11721 units in October 2020. Despite being a new product/brand, Kia has done quite well in India. Kia Sonet costs between Rs.6.71 lakh and Rs.12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).  It is available in 6 variant options with both petrol and diesel engine and manual and automatic transmission.  The aggressive new look of the car with segment-first features helped the Sonet to become much popular.

9) Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Maruti Vitara Brezza was also absent in the previous list. Maruti has sold 12087 units of the SUV in the Indian car market. It is the most-famous SUV from Maruti in India.  The Maruti Vitara Brezza costs between Rs.7.34 lakh and Rs.11.40 lakh(ex-showroom).  It comes with a single BS6 1.5L petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission. It also comes in 4 variants to choose from.

8) Maruti Eeco

Talk about dominance in the market, and there is no better example than Eeco. This is the only van in our list and does not have any real competition against it.  The car was recently updated to meet BS6 norms with changes to both exteriors and interiors. The major difference will be the BS6 engine and dual-tone interiors. 13,309 units of the Maruti EECO were sold in October 2020. The car costs between Rs.3.9 to Rs.5.05 lakh. (Ex-showroom) Monopoly is never good for customers and other brands must realize this.

7) Hyundai Grand i10

This car was absent from the top 10 list for a very long time, but has returned finally. 14,003 units of the Hyundai Grand i10 have been sold in October 2020.  The car costs between Rs.5.06 to Rs.8.29 lakh. (Ex-showroom) It serves as one of the best options in the entry-level hatchback segment. Hyundai also recently launched the Nios turbo which we reviewed. Hyundai is the only car manufacturer in India which can give competition to Maruti in terms of overall sales.  The Nios in its segment is something much more premium and spacious than competition.

6) Hyundai Creta

The best-selling SUV in the Indian car market is the age-old popular Hyundai Creta. The undisputed leader of its segment, the Hyundai Creta sold around 14,023 units in October 2020.  The gap between Seltos and Creta numbers till June was quite nominal but now things have drastically changed.  The new facelift worked its magic and this is the number 1 SUV sold in the market in terms of sales figures. The Hyundai Creta costs between Rs.9.99 to Rs.17.2 lakh. (Ex-showroom) It has consistently grabbed sales above 10,000. Despite being an expensive car, Hyundai has able to make it its best-seller.

5) Maruti Dzire

A household name for Indian car buyers. Maruti sold around 17,675 units of this car in October 2020. Swift and Dzire itself have become a brand name in India and attract customers quite easily.  The Dzire also comes with a single petrol engine with a 5-speed manual/AMT transmission.  The new Maruti Dzire costs between Rs.5.88 to Rs.8.8 lakh. (Ex-showroom)  It has become the best-selling sedan in the country and there is no looking back. Despite its competition, it has remained the market leader in its segment. This is the only compact sedan in the Top 20 car sales list.

4) Maruti Alto 800

17,850 units were sold approximately in October 2020.  The Maruti Alto 800 costs between Rs.2.99 to Rs.4.41 lakh. (Ex-showroom)   Maruti is known for its reliability and service. Network is one of the most strong points of this brand.  Maruti as a brand is hugely popular in India and the same thing may be said for a very long time. This is the bread and butter car for Maruti in terms of numbers. Though the 800cc engine is quite underpowered it serves the purpose for city use. 3) Maruti WagonR

Considered to be the perfect first car by many, the Maruti WagonR sold 18,703 units in October 2020, higher than 13,770 of August.  You get a 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engine to choose from. The 1.0-litre engine also comes with a CNG option. Both  5-speed manual/AMT transmission are available for purchase. The Maruti WagonR BS6 costs between Rs.4.5 to Rs.5.99 lakh. (Ex-showroom)

2) Maruti Baleno

Maruti sold close to 21,971 units of this car in October 2020 which is a big improvement compared to the previous month. Baleno still only gets the petrol engine but people seem to love it. Maruti Baleno costs between Rs.5.7 to Rs.9.03 lakh. (Ex-showroom)   It is also the only Nexa product in our list.

For the third time during the previous three months, the Maruti Swift has occupied the first place. Maruti it is, to top off the list!  Both the siblings are quite popular in the Indian market. Maruti has sold 24,589 units of the Maruti Swift in October 2020.  The entry-level hatchback segment is quite popular with first-time car buyers and Swift is leading the competition. The Maruti Swift costs between Rs.5.18 to Rs.8.01 lakh. (Ex-showroom) Maruti’s HEARTECH platform is being used in 5 products out of the Top 10 selling cars.
