To start with, whenever there is a monopoly in any segment of business, customers invariably suffer and pay the price. Healthy competition keeps the prices low and car manufacturers on their toes to provide something better to prospective clients. But the Maruti Eeco has not faced any competition for a decade and has remained the undisputed leader of its segment for a very long time. Find out below why India needs a Maruti Eeco competitor.

Dominance in Sales

Eeco Cargo

Maruti Suzuki recently informed that EECO has successfully managed to sell 7 million+ units in 10 years that it has been in the market. That is a humongous sales number and production period for any affordable car. While many companies are discontinuing cars like changing face-masks, Maruti created a master-piece and continues to sell it for a majority of profit. We should always remember that small droplets lead to a big ocean. Small profits for Maruti led the company to become the largest in India. The average monthly sales of Eeco are around 7000 both pre and post-COVID. This sales number is a milestone considering many companies combined cannot beat it.

Engine and Performance

Maruti Eeco was recently updated to meet the BS6 emission norms. The 2020 BS6 Maruti EECO comes with a 1196cc petrol engine with 40L of fuel capacity. The engine produces a maximum power output of 54kW@6000rpm and a peak torque output of 98Nm@3000rpm. The petrol engine promises a fuel economy of 16.11 kmpl. Many EECO buyers have agreed that the EECO produces close to 16kmpl in the real world scenario. That is a very good figure considering a 7-seater.

Other car manufacturers need to and should produce a worthy competitor to the Maruti Eeco. The legacy is tough to beat but not impossible.  If Tata motors, comes with a rival, Local for Vocal campaign can lead to greater sales.  Engineers and Car designers need to identify the strong and weak points of the Eeco, get inspired and make a better product. The service cost and maintenance is also part of the overall Eeco package. Brands should try to emulate it as well. Healthy competition leads to better products and service and car manufacturer brands need to understand this. There is a gold mine waiting to be discovered, you just have to have the courage!
