Toyota and Maruti Suzuki’s partnership has given birth to quite some twins. Toyota sold the Maruti Baleno as Toyota Glanza in the Indian market. Rumours also suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be sold as Toyota Urban Cruiser in the market. Now, Maruti Suzuki for the first time has launched a re-badged version of a Toyota car. The Maruti Suzuki ACross was revealed globally and it is based on the Toyota RA4 SUV.

Dimensions?

The Maruti Suzuki ACross will be the biggest SUV under Suzuki. It is placed above the Vitara Brezza in the international markets.  It is quite similar to dimensions of Toyota RA4 but a little better in some aspects compared to the Toyota Harrier, its main competition.

Indian Launch?

Toyota launches re-badged versions of Maruti Suzuki in India as of now.  As a result, Maruti Suzuki may or may not bring ACross to the country.  The Toyota Urban Cruiser, when launched, will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon including others. That reminds us of the Maruti S-Cross which hasn’t been launched in petrol yet! Do watch the video of the S-Cross Petrol shown at the Auto Expo 2020.

Design

The interiors of ACross are similar to the Toyota RA4. A 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the main highlight.  Minor tweaks have been incorporated to differentiate it from its sibling.

The exteriors remain largely identical in both the car. Suzuki has changed some elements to help the car stand out against Toyota. Compared to the Tata Harrier, the car looks a little dull. SUV styling elements have been added to enhance the looks of the car.

The ACross has been primarily developed for global markets so safety features like Pre-Collision System(PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing assist have been included as standard. If launched in India, it may have these features only on the top-spec variant.
