Toyota Brezza – Production Name?

It has been reported that Toyota has trademarked the Urban Cruiser brand name in India. We all know that Toyota’s next product in India will be the rebadged Brezza. So this hints that the upcoming Toyota Brezza might have the name as Urban Cruiser. It seems that Toyota is applying quite an intelligent name for this compact SUV.

Land Cruiser is one of the popular Toyota’s in India. Having a name that resembles a bigger vehicle is a kind of win-win situation. So what changes and features will it possess over the Maruti Brezza? let’s take some overview of it.

Toyota Brezza Looks

Designwise, the Toyota Brezza or Urban Cruiser will be very much similar to the Maruti Brezza. However, Toyota Brezza will be getting a completely different bumper design and grille that should be resembling Toyota’s design language. If we observe the difference in Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno then we see that most of the changes were on the steering wheel, variants and pricing option so we can expect similar changes on the Toyota Urban Cruiser as well.

Toyota Brezza Powertrain

Currently, Maruti Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre K15B four-cylinder petrol engine. The engine produces around 103 bhp max power and 138 Nm of peak torque. So we can expect the same engine to be seen in the Toyota Brezza or Urban Cruiser as well. The engine comes mated with a five-speed manual and optional four-speed gearbox.

Brezza Features

The features will be also similar to the Maruti Brezza. It will be getting LED DRLs, LED taillamps, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto-folding ORVMs, climate control, and much more.

Maruti Brezza comes with a good amount of safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, central locking, reverse parking sensor.

We can expect similar safety features on Toyota Brezza as well.

Toyota Brezza Price

If we take a look at the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanz Pricing we can see that Toyota Glanza’s pricing starts way after the Maruti Baleno’s pricing. But when we compared features, Toyota Glanza seemed to have a better value for money.

So that might be the case with Toyota Urban Cruiser too. Maruti Brezza currently is priced at Rs 7.34 lakhs – 11.4 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Rivals and Launch Date

The Toyota Brezza will be rivalling other compact SUVs in the market such as Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV 300 and also the upcoming Kia Sonet. The launch is likely to take place later this year.
