Mahindra could get the Scorpio with the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with this model launch mostly. There is also a 2.2-litre petrol engine that is also being readied for a launch. The Mahindra Scorpio will come with a six-speed automatic as well on the diesel engine. The Intelli-hybrid system will be an advanced version of micro Hybrid. What happens in this is that the electrical appliances will keep on running even when the engine is off when in traffic. The battery size will be bigger and there will even be regenerative braking also. With this, it will get the excise benefit that the Ciaz and Ertiga SHVS are enjoying. Thus making the Scorpio more affordable and with about 10-15% better mileage too.
The diesel engine will produce the same 140bhp of power and it will come with a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic box. A new AISIN automatic transmission will also be coming on the updated version of the Scorpio. The petrol on the other hand will churn about 156bhp of power. Expect the micro-hybrid technology to see some more advancement and helpful in better fuel economy.

On the outside, the new Scorpio will get some upgrades. There won’t be a major change in the styling. However, there will be revised headlamp styling. There aren’t too many changes to the design of the Scorpio’s fascia. The front bumper will see a change and redesigned fog lamps will be used. The side profile of the new Scorpio 2017 won’t change except for the alloy wheel design. The rear will see a minor change, with some changes in the design of the tail lamp. Mahindra had made changes to the design of the rear part of the Scorpio in the first few months itself. As this is a facelift, it won’t be getting a major upgrade in its styling.
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio’s price won’t see a hike. In fact what Mahindra will do is increase the price of the top of the variant only. Hence, the pricing of the diesel engine won’t change, however with the petrol coming in, the base model petrol pricing should be about INR 9.5 lakhs (on-road). This will give Mahindra an advantage over the competition. With the advanced micro-hybrid, Mahindra will get subsidy as well.
One of the downsides of the Mahindra Scorpio has been its fuel-efficiency. Now, with the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio, this will be solved as the updated micro-hybrid will return even better fuel-efficiency.
