Ford India has been working on the Ecosport 2017. This is the facelift version of this compact SUV. It will receive its mid-life facelift after about 5 years. A new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine will be offered. This will replace the current 1.5-litre and maybe even the EcoBoost. The new Dragon engine isn’t just more powerful but also more efficient too. This engine produces about 121bhp of power and 150Nm of maximum torque. The 2017 Ford Ecosport will see other changes too.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine will be the same. It will produce about 98bhp of power and 210Nm of maximum torque. Both the engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The petrol will also have a six-speed DCT also. This will be carried forward on the new engine as well. This new engine will be offered as automatics even on the Figo and Aspire in the near future. The Ford Ecosport Price might not changed much.
The launch of the Ecosport 2017 is a few months away, we have done a detailed preview on what all can you expect in this new SUV. There are many changes in its design, especially the front of the 2017 Ecosport. There is a new large hexagonal front grille, which makes it look similar to the Endeavour. This gets horizontal chrome slats. Headlamp design has also been changed. It is sharper than before. Offers projector headlamps and daytime running LEDs. The front bumper has been redesigned. The rear continues to get the wheel mounted on the tail gate.
There shall be multiple changes on the inside too. To begin with, a new music system on the Ecosport 2017 with SYNC 3. This could even offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well. This should even have navigation, bluetooth and reverse camera. There will be a 2-DIN music system in the lower variants.
On the inside, there are many changes with an all new steering wheel, instrument cluster and even a revised dashboard. This will make it seem to many, this is an all new SUV and not a facelift. The old style numpad will be gone for good.
The Ford Ecosport facelift will be coming in this year itself. There isn’t any official announcement on the date, but it will be in October. This version has already been unveiled in the 2016 LA Auto Show. It has been almost a year, but not launched for India. Just after Diwali is when we expect the launch.

There will be not be a major difference in the pricnig of the new updated Ecosport. There shall not be a major change in the pricing of the Ecosport and it shall be similar to the current one. The Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon are two products that come close to the Ecosport. Even the Honda WR-V has been turning on the heat too. Ford needs to raise its game and have more competitive pricing too.
As the goal is to Make in India, the new 1.5-litre petrol engine is locally manufactured here. This will help to reduce the price further as it will even have 3-cylinders. We expect Ford Ecosport 2017 Price to start at Rs 7.0 lakhs to Rs 12.5 lakhs for the top model. This will help Ford to improve its market standing.

The 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine on the Ecosport will be a good new addition. This new engine is light weight as it is an aluminium block that is light in weight. The timing belt is in oil for reduced wear and tear and integrated exhaust manifold is also there. The throttle response is better and there shall be an improvement in its mileage by 7%. The NVH levels will be lower too. The new petrol engine shall churn about 121bhp of power at 6,500rpm and 150Nm of maximum torque at 4,500rpm. This is about 13bhp and 10Nm more than the outgoing petrol engine. This will be the most powerful petrol engine on paper and maybe even real world. This engine will be offered with a five-speed manual and six-speed DCT.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine will churn about 99bhp of power and 210Nm of maximum torque. This same engine will continue on the 2017 Ecosport. Ford should be looking at discontinuing the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine for the Indian car market.

|1.0-litre petrol||14 km/l|
|1.5-litre diesel||16 km/l|
At the moment, we cannot say much about the mileage of the new Ecosport petrol. Ford claims an improvement of about 7%, so we reckon it should be about 12km/l and 11km/l for the manual and auto respectively in the city and highway should be 16km/l and 17km/l. But for the diesel, it is about 15km/l in the city and close to 18km/l on the highway. There shall be no change in the offering for the diesel engine.

The current Ecosport and the Brezza are already neck-to-neck and the updated one will continue to fight it out with the new Ecosport. The new Ecosport will have a few advantages on the Brezza, this will include more engine options and the diesel being more powerful too. So, the three engines shall be 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre dragon petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Maruti has the advantage of better drivability in city and the brand’s service network. Maruti has a better brand name too.
This is a close one between the two. Both offer petrol and diesel engines and are oriented towards driving joy. Both look stylish and have good performance too. Nexon and Ecosport are likely to have similar features too. The Ecosport shall get an update in features and price will be the only deciding factor these two SUVs. The Ford Ecosport 2017 could get an advantage on the Nexon especially with the petrol engine.
