Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Coming to India

Maruti is working on the new-generation Ertiga, there is no hiding about it. But the company is also working on a new Ertiga crossover. There are multiple new models it is looking to get into the Indian car market, which will help it gain a strong market share. One of them is the Celerio X Cross, the Wagon R 7 Seater and even this new Maruti Ertiga Crossover. The concept was first showcased in 2015 and it seems to be coming in true for the next-gen Ertiga. Suzuki had showcased it in the Indonesian Motor Show.

The new Ertiga Crossover YHB will be based on the new Ertiga. So, the Heartect platform will be used for it as well. It at the moment is used for the Baleno, DZire and even the new Swift. The new Ertiga will be light in weight and the company claims it to be equally strong. There will be 17-inch tyres, body cladding, different front bumper and even rear, side skirts will also be added. The new-gen Ertiga crossover could even have black alloy wheels. There will black mesh grille and daytime running LEDs.

On the interiors, there will be not much of a difference in styling. There might be all-black interiors on the cross version. In terms of features, there shall be touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There will be navigation system and reverse camera. Keyless entry, push start and stop, roof mounted AC vents in second and third rows. There shall be dual airbags and ABS as a standard feature across all the variants.

Maruti will be using the 1.4-litre petrol engine and 1.3-litre diesel engine. These engines will be offered with a five-speed manual and AMT options. There will not be a major change in engine options. It might not be SHVS also on offer unless the GST rates for hybrids are revised. There will not be any change in the engines on offer.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Price in India

The pricing of the Ertiga crossover will be about Rs 50,000 more than the new Ertiga. There will not be a lot of variants on this. There shall be 2 variants at the most on petrol and diesel engines. The top model Z+ will be offered on the Crossover.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Launch Date

Maruti begun testing the new Ertiga. This new MUV will be launched in August 2018. The new Ertiga will be offered in the Indian car market and the crossover shall be coming in by late 2018 or early 2019. We cannot expect it anytime before that.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Specifications

In terms of engines, there shall be the same 1.4-litre petrol K-Series on offer. This engine will churn about 90bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. At the same time, there will be a CNG version also on the 1.4-litre version. Both these engines will be offered with five-speed manual and petrol will even have AMT also. The engine is silent and has good enough power. There is more than sufficient power to drive in comfort in the city. On the highway, one can comfortably cruise on the highway. There could even be a 1.2-litre K-Series engine as the new Ertiga will be much lighter and a reduction of 100 kilograms is a lot.

There shall be no 1.5-litre diesel. A 1.3-litre DDiS shall be continued to be offered. It will have 90bhp ofpower and 200Nm of maximum torque. This will be offered with a five-speed manual transmission. This engine has sufficient power and good enough torque too.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Mileage

There will be no change in the fuel-efficiency. The petrol engine will return about 12km/l in the city and close to 16km/l on the highway. The diesel engine will return amount 16km/l in the city and close to 20km/l on the highway.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Exterior

On the outside, the new Ertiga will have a lot of similarity to the new DZire. The front grille will be bigger. It shall offer more chrome than the DZire. There will be sleek headlamps. These shall have daytime running LEDs and even projector headlamps. The fog lamps might be LED too.

The side profile is a lot more proportioned. The bigger tyres and even the side skirting makes it look rugged. The Ertiga already has the length and this will add on to it. The rear looks well balanced as well. Maruti Ertiga cross YHB has good styling and it will look more aggressive than the current Ertiga. The tail lamps will also have LEDs. There will be electrically adjustable and folding mirrors on offer too. There will be chrome garnish on the floor board with Ertiga embossed on it.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Interior Features

The interiors of the crossover will be all black. The regular Ertiga will have all beige interiors. This will differentiate the interiors clearly. In terms of features it will be the same like the Ertiga. There shall be touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There will be navigation and reverse camera. There are dual airbags and ABS as a standard feature. The steering wheel will be new and instrument cluster derived from the DZire.

The second row of seats will have more knee room and even the head room is good enough.  The width will be more and hence, three people shall be able to sit more comfortably. The third row will offer more head room and knee room too. There will be roof mounted AC vents for the second and the third row of passengers.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover YHB Competition

There won’t too many competing MPVs in this segment. There is the Honda BR-V and even the upcoming Renault MPV as well. The Renault Lodgy can also be considered as another competing vehicle.
