Maruti had launched the Ciaz in 2014. In 2016, the diesel engine got the SVHS technology and last year the Ciaz was moved to the Nexa Experience showrooms. Now, the Maruti Ciaz 2018 is due to come in. This will be the company’s flagship sedan’s facelift coming in. With the Honda City and even the Hyundai Verna getting changes and new-gen coming in, Ciaz 2018 will help to boost sales of the Ciaz.

The new Ciaz 2018 will get more features. This will help it become even more competitive. Recent launches of the new Verna and City facelift have put pressure on the Ciaz. Maruti would want to offer more bells and whistles. It is expected to get cruise control, daytime running LEDs, LED taillamps and bigger 16-inch alloy wheels. The features on offer will be a lot more than what is currently available. There might an optional sunroof on offer as well.

The engines also might see an upgrade. It is rumoured that the petrol engine will be replaced by a 1.5-litre one and the diesel engine will be the same. The 1.3-litre diesel shall continue. The 1.6-litre diesel engine ahs been discontinued on teh S-Cross, so it will not make it into the Ciaz.  As it is, the demand for petrol versions is on the rise. The four speed auto will also be replaced by a CVT, in all likelihood. The new engine and transmission is expected to make the Ciaz a lot more powerful and counter competition in a better way. It will also be a better value for money car.

Maruti Ciaz 2018 Design

Maruti Ciaz has always been a stylish looking car. However, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz will look even more premium. The Ciaz 2018 seems a lot more premium and upmarket than any of its siblings. It even looks classier than its competition. It will get a new front grille which will extend to the front bumper. The styling of this car will be more upmarket and sportier too. It is the longest car in its segment and that adds a lot of panache to the sedan. The Ciaz 2018 will look like a bigger sedan, especially from its side profile.

The rear part will still be similar to the Honda City, with large tail lamps. The new Nexa blue colour makes the Ciaz 2018 look more rich and classy and there will new colours coming in too. The 2018 Maruti Ciaz can be a good inspiration for many of the Maruti’s upcoming designs. This one does look perfect for the Nexa experience family. This is where the Ciaz can be differentiated from the other Maruti cars. This time around the alloy wheels on offer should be diamond cut ones. This will make it a lot more sporty.

Power 110 bhp
Torque 150 Nm
Transmission 5-speed manual, CVT
Diesel Engine 1.3-litre
Power 90 bhp
Torque 200 Nm
Transmission 5-speed manual

2018 Maruti Ciaz will get a 1.5-litre petrol engine. It will churn out about 110bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. There will be good torque even at low engine speeds. This means that there will be sufficient punch from the engine even when driving at low speeds in city traffic. This engine is expected to be refined and silent too. It will have sufficient power to be driven in city and even to comfortably cruise on the highway. The new engine will have very low NVH levels, making it a highly refined engine. This engine will come with five-speed manual and a new CVT option also.

The diesel engine will remain the same 1.3-litre unit. This has around 90bhp of power and will also get SHVS hybrid system, most likely. The same has also been introduced on the S-Cross. This is a start-stop technology that will start and stop a car in traffic, and then when you brake, the braking heat is converted into electric energy and stored in a battery. This improves the engine’s efficiency and increases the cars mileage also. This engine will come only with a five-speed manual transmission. The demand for petrol cars is rising, hence only the petrol will be a new engine, with an automatic option.
