The Tata Harrier and Safari are due for their major update. We have been talking about them for some time, covering spy shots and other details. Today, Tata has revealed all the details of both the SUVs. In all this one question everyone keeps us asking, will the Harrier and Safari facelifts come with petrol engine options? We have debunked this earlier too, but now we have some confirmation from Tata Motors itself. In today’s article, let’s talk about Tata Harrier and Safari petrol.

Tata has fully unveiled the new Safari. The exterior and interior gets a major refresh. Also there are plethora of new features including several segment first features like 12.2-inch infotainment system, 10 JBL speakers, 10-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, 2nd row ventialted seats, rear door shades, multi colour ambient lighting, welcome and goodbye animation on the front and rear. Also, the new Harrier comes with some major changes in the exterior and interior, including features like 12.3-inch infotainment system, dual Zone climate control, rear door sunshades, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Terrain Response modes, 45kW USB charger, Multiple ambient lighting options on sunroof & midpad, Gesture Controlled Power Tailgate. Petrol coming, but 

Jumping straight to the point, we recently interviewed Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors. In this interview, we asked about the possibility of a petrol engine coming on the Harrier & Safari. To this question, Shailesh Chandra stated that Tata Motors is working on bringing the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine on the Harrier and Safari. However, it will not come with the facelifted models as this petrol engine will debut with the Curvv, coming next year. We can expect petrol to grace the Harrier and Safari lineup later on in their life cycles. Facelifted models

The new Harrier and Safari get big changes. First of all, they get a major design refresh. This includes a new grille, LED headlamps, new front bumpers, a new set of alloy wheels and a connected tail lamp design. The new design for both these SUVs is very similar to the Harrier EV unveiled at the Auto Expo. 

Like the exterior, the interior get a major design refresh. The dashboard gets a new design with a floating infotainment system and a new 4-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo. Other new features include a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10-inch instrument cluster, wireless charging, air purifier, dual-zone climate control, advanced ESP, paddle shifters, a 360-degree camera. Specs-wise, as mentioned above, it only comes with the 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of producing 168bhp and 250Nm of torque. It continues with the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. 

Tata Harrier and Safari petrol – Launch and pricing

Tata has unveiled both the SUVs and it has opened bookings for both the SUVs. We can expect a launch in the upcoming weeks. What about the price hike? Pricing-wise, we can expect it to be Rs 60k to 80k, more expensive than the current model. Currently, the Harrier starts from Rs 18.70 lakh and goes to Rs 29.87 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the Safari starts from Rs 19.34 lakh and goes to Rs 30.75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
