Tata recently wrapped up the launch of the new Harrier and Safari. Now one its next target is going be the C-SUV segment. The C-SUV segment is one of the most lucrative segments in the country. Almost all manufacturers have SUVs in this segment barring some like Tata, Mahindra & Jeep. Tata plans to soon enter this segment with the Curvv. The Curvv will come in both electric and ICE powertrains. So what will be its pricing? In today’s article, let’s talk about Tata Curvv expected price.

Tata Curvv price expectation

The Curvv will be quite a unique product in the Indian market. Currently, there are no affordable coupe SUV options. The Curvv will be one of its one-of-a-kind cars and that makes it a bit tricky to guess its price. Nevertheless, let’s first talk about the price of the ICE Curvv. We think it will be priced similarly to its other rivals. So we can expect its price to start from Rs 12 lakh and go to Rs 24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). How will the starting price be so low? We explain that further in the story, so do stick around.

Talk about the pricing of the Curvv EV, we can expect it to be a little more than the ICE variants. The Curvv EV should ideally start from Rs 18 lakh or Rs 19 lakh to not overlap with the Nexon EV. The higher variants could go up to Rs 26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Design

The Curvv comes with a coupe SUV design language. The front of the car gets LED DRLs that run across the width till the ORVMs. The EV Curvv doesn’t come with a grille, while the ICE version gets a chequered grille design. Both concepts come with a sharp design language with lots of cuts and creases. At the rear, we get to see inverted L-shaped LED taillamps running through the entire width of the tailgate.

In the interiors, the Curvv follows a simple but practical approach. It gets a simple dashboard with a floating infotainment system in the middle. Other interior highlights include a two-spoke steering wheel and digital instrument cluster. On the steering wheel, we have media controls and an illuminated Tata logo like the newly launched Nexon. Like the Nexon, we have touch-sensitive HVAC controls. Other features on the Curvv include a panoramic sunroof and a powered tailgate.

Specifications

Tata is yet to reveal the specifications of the Curvv EV. But we expect it to come with a 50kWh or 60kWh battery pack. With the better aerodynamics of the Curvv, we can expect a real-world range around the 400km mark. It will also sport the new Gen-2 motor Tata revealed with the Nexon.ev. This motor is lighter and also more efficient. What power figures it will produce on the Curvv is still anyone’s guess.

Now let’s talk about the ICE powertrain, the Curvv is confirmed to come with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 167bhp and 280Nm of torque. Transmission options should consist of a manual and a DCA gearbox. The lower variants could come with the new 1.2-litre turbo petrol capable of producing 123bhp and 225Nm of torque. This will help Tata to price the lower variants more aggressively. Both of these engines were showcased by Tata at the Auto Expo.

In terms of rivals, the Curvv EV will take on the upcoming Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV. The ICE Curvv will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
