For the last 2-3 days, Tata has been teasing the new Safari and Harrier. Now, it has finally revealed all the details of the new Safari. The new Safari gets a new exterior and interior design, including several new features. Dimensions & Design

The new Safari is 4668mm in length, 1922mm in width and 1795mm in height. So it is 7mm longer, 28mm wider & 9mm taller than the outgoing model. Now let’s talk about the design changes on Safari. The new Safari gets a major exterior upgrade. We have a new grille up front, with body-coloured inserts giving it a chequered look. Above that, we have the new full-length DRL design. We have all LED headlamps and fog lamps. Tata has also updated the air dam design. Coming to the side profile, it is more or less similar, barring the new 19-inch alloy wheels. We have slight tweaks on the C-pillar and Safari badging on the front door. At the rear, We have a connected tail lamp design with a black element nicely contrasting it.

The interiors of the new Safari get a major upgrade. We get the floating infotainment system like before, but it has grown in size. The rest of the dashboard gets a completely new look with a new dual-tone dashboard. The colour of the dashboard changes according to the variant you select. Then we have a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. This steering wheel is an electronic steering, solving another issue of the outgoing Safari. We also a new touch sensitive AC controls and other controls like rear defogger etc. The door pads also get different colours depending upon the variant you select. Tata is using acoustic isolation to lower exterior noises inside the cabin.

Let’s now talk about all the new features. Tata has added segment-first features like welcome and goodbye animation on the front & rear LED DRL, a 10-speaker JBL system with Harman AudioworX, touch-based HVAC controls, a steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, E-shifter (AT only), rear door sunshades, new ambient lighting, gesture-controlled power tailgate, comfort headrest in 2nd row and 45kW fast USB charger. 

Other features include a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10-inch instrument cluster, wireless charging, air purifier, dual-zone climate control, advanced ESP, paddle shifters, a 360-degree camera, voice commands, digital instrument cluster. 

Safety features could include ADAS with 11 features, 7 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants, all-wheel disc brakes, front fog lamps with cornering, front parking sensors, and blind view monitoring. To check out variant-wise feature breakdown of the new Safari, click here.

Tata has also rejigged the variant naming of the new Safari. Now we have four variants – Smart, Pure, Adventure and Accomplished. The Smart is the base variant, while Accomplished is the top. Tata has also straightway introduced the Dark edition of the new Safari. Also, the new Safari comes with a standard warranty of 3 years/1 lakh km. 

Specifications

The new Tata Safari and Harrier will continue with the 2.0-litre diesel engine. We don’t expect any changes in the specifications and it will continue to produce 167bhp and 350Nm of torque. We have a power steering with adapts to the drive modes. Tata has also tuned the suspension for a more comfort-oriented ride. Also, there is no petrol engine coming as we had stated earlier today, you can check it out here. The petrol will debut on the Curvv and then come onto the Safari.

With all the details revealed, the launch is expected to happen soon. Bookings of the new Safari have commenced for a token of Rs 25,000. Pricing-wise, the facelift of the new Safari is expected to be Rs 70k to 90k more expensive than the outgoing models. Currently, the price of the Safari starts from Rs 19.34 lakh and goes to Rs 30.75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
