Kia Sonet facelift – New Nexon challenger!
The compact SUV segment has just been elevated with the launch of the Nexon facelift. The Nexon facelift comes with a new design and a plethora of new features. After the Nexon, Hyundai also quickly updated the Venue with ADAS. Next up, Kia is working on the Sonet facelift. So can it challenge the New Nexon? In today’s article, let’s talk about the Kia Sonet facelift.
Design changes
The spy shots of the Kia Sonet facelift have suggested a new DRL design. It extends into the headlamp, as seen in the spy shots. We can also expect a slightly tweaked grille and fog lamp housing. The side profile should remain the same, barring the new alloy wheel design. At the rear, we have Seltos-like vertical tail lamps. Maybe the Kia Sonet facelift also gets the connected tail lamp treatment.
New features
The Sonet is already one of the most feature-loaded cars in this segment. In the facelift, we could expect Kia to add some new things to the interior. Maybe Kia could add a beige upholstery on the higher variants. Kia could add missing features like a cooled glove box, 360-degree camera, electric driver seat, etc. There are rumours we could see ADAS on the Sonet facelift. It could be the camera-based one Hyundai recently launched on the Venue.
Specifications
Being a facelift, we don’t expect Kia to tinker much with the specifications. It will continue with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (81bhp/115Nm), 1.0-litre turbo petrol (118bhp/172Nm)and 1.5-litre diesel engine (113bhp/250Nm). Transmission options include manual, iMT, DCT and a torque converter gearbox.
Launch and pricing
The Kia Sonet facelift has been spotted multiple times in India and globally. According to reports, the brand plans to unveil the facelift by the end of this year. The launch could happen soon after. What can be the expected pricing? We could expect the pricing of Kia Sonet facelift to start from Rs 10 lakh and go to Rs 18.70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
