Kia Seltos set the market on fire with its launch in 2019. It had everything needed in that segment and more. Fast forward to 2023, Kia has applied the same formula on the Seltos facelift, giving it everything needed in this segment. It comes with all the features and also a good engine option. But has Kia done anything on the safety front? The pre-facelift version barely scored three stars. Can the facelift model fare better? In today’s article, let’s talk about the Kia Seltos facelift NCAP rating.

NCAP rating

Kia Seltos tested at NCAP rating

Kia recently launched the facelifted model. So, naturally that hasn’t been tested yet by GNCAP. However, the pre-facelift model could barely score three stars in the older protocols of GNCAP. Now some can argue that this tested model came only with dual airbags, while now 6-airbags are standard on the Seltos. Still, the Carens with the same platform and 6-airbags scored three stars.

Coming back to the Seltos facelift, Kia didn’t state anything that would instil confidence about its safety. Also, as this is just a mid-cycle update the Seltos continues with the same platform. All in all, it doesn’t look like the safety score of Seltos will drastically improve on the facelift. But we are happy to be proven wrong, as the Seltos is a near-perfect product, barring the safety score.

The launch of BNCAP has added another dimension to this safety debut. Most of the tests of the BNCAP are very similar to the GNCAP so we can expect similar standards. We don’t think GNCAP will be testing the Seltos facelift, it will be ending its ‘SafercarsforIndia’ initiative due to the emergence of BNCAP. We hope the Seltos facelift performs well in the BNCAP test.

Kia Seltos NCAP rating – Safety features

The Kia Seltos facelift comes with several active and pass safety features. First of all, it comes with Level-2 ADAS with features like forward collision warning and avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and much more. Other safety features include 6 airbags, all-disc brakes, ABS, electronic stability control, hill start assist control and rear parking sensors.

Now let’s talk about the other details of the Seltos facelift. The Seltos facelift comes with three engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (113bhp/144NM), 1.5-litre turbo petrol (158bhp/253Nm) & a 1.5-litre diesel (113bhp/250Nm). Transmission options include manual and automatic options. In terms of features, it comes with new features a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, sequential turn indicators and much more. All this is good, but if Seltos can score well in the crash test, it can become the perfect car in this segment.
