Hyundai is keeping a tab on the EV segment in the country. It currently has two EVs in its portfolio – Kona and IONIQ-5. However, both are on the expensive side of things. To that effect, Hyundai wants to bring an affordable option to tap into the high sales. So what can Hyundai do? Like Tata, it seems to be converting its ICE cars into EVs. Recently it launched the Exter, and now the Exter EV has been spotted. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Hyundai Exter EV.

Tata is on an EV launch spree, as we have covered in this story. One of its upcoming EVs is going to be the Punch EV. It seems like Hyundai has taken notice of this and has started working on the Exter EV. Recently its first test mule was spotted testing. It didn’t have any radical changes compared to the ICE model.

What could change?

The overall silhouette of the Exter EV will be similar to the ICE model. We could see some blue highlights, which have become a trademark of EV cars. We could also see some EV badges on the exterior. In the interior, we could again see blue highlights and some EV touches. Specification-wise, we could see a claimed range in the 300 km to 350km range.

Hyundai Exter EV – Launch timeline

The Hyundai Exter EV has been spotted in testing, but this could be just the prototype. Hyundai recently wrapped up the launch of the ICE Exter, and we think it will take at least 8 to 9 months to develop an EV model. So we think the Exter EV could be launched by mid-2024.
