Hyundai cars are known for their feature-loaded and polarising design languages. People love them for the premium quality materials etc. However, one thing their cars lack is structural safety. Yes, they come with a lot of safety features, but crash test scores have always failed them. With the Exter, Hyundai is looking to change this narrative. At the Exter launch, Hyundai stated that the Exter could be its safest car. How? In today’s article, let’s talk about Hyundai Exter safety.

Hyundai Exter Safety ratings

Hyundai is confident that the Exter will score a good crash test rating at GNCAP. It will soon be sending the car to GNCAp testing and is expecting a 4-star or 5-star crash test rating. If this happens, it will surely spice up the competition. The brand is also targeting to send the car to BNCAP once that comes into effect, probably from October this year. The talk of safety is all good, but we will have to wait for the crash test rating to be sure about it.

What are your thoughts about this? Happy with Hyundai’s focus on safety?

Safety features

The Hyundai Exter comes with various safety features like six airbags (standard), seat-belt reminders, ESC, ISOFIX, TPMS, vehicle stability management, rear defogger, automatic headlamps, ABS with EBD and hill start assist control.

Exter as a product

The Exter is Hyundai’s smallest SUV and sits below the Venue in its SUV lineup. Design-wise, it comes with a boxy design language. At the front, we have an upright grille, Projector headlamps and H-shaped DRLs. The side profile has a lot of cladding, giving it a SUVish look. At the rear, we again have an H-shaped tail lamp design. The interiors are almost identical to the Grand i10 Nios. In terms of features, the Exter comes with an 8-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, paddle shifters etc.
