Mahindra’s least selling car – What’s next?

Mahindra is currently going through its best sales period with cars like the XUV700 and Scorpio-N. Both cars are having a long waiting list showcasing their popularity. Other cars like the XUV300 and Bolero are also doing decently. Sadly not all cars in its product lineup are enjoying the same level of success. The car we are talking about today is the Marazzo. What’s next? In today’s article, let’s talk about the 2023 Mahindra Marazzo.

Sales numbers

Mahindra sold just 81 units of the Marazzo in July. Also, this is not just a one-off, even in June, Mahindra sold only 79 units of the Marazzo. These numbers are abysmal for a budget 7-seater. Even the Triber has better sales than the Marazzo. If Mahindra wants to increase its sales, it needs to update the Marazzo or discontinue it altogether. 

What went wrong?

Mahindra had big ambitions with the Marazzo to take on the Ertiga and Innova. It tried to find a sweet spot between the two heavyweights. Sadly, for Mahindra that didn’t happen, and the brand is partially to blame for its failure. Firstly it missed out on an automatic gearbox option and also a petrol engine which dented the sales from the start. By the time Mahindra figured it out, the Marazzo was already a flop product and there was no way Mahindra could revive it. 

2023 Mahindra Marazzo – Will it be discontinued?

Mahindra has been quite tight-lipped about what it is doing with the Marazzo. It seems like Mahindra has forgotten that a product like Marazzo exists in its lineup. From the sales figure, it looks like just a matter of time before Mahindra pulls the plug on the Marazzo. It does make sense as the discontinuation of the Marazzo will free up much-needed production capacity for its other SUVs.
