SUV sales have skyrocketed in the last few years. All types of SUVs are in high demand in India. Manufacturers generally launch what the people want, so we are seeing a high number of SUV launches. Tata Motors has seen an exponential rise in its sales figures mainly due to its SUV lineup. It is even challenging Hyundai Motors for the number two spot in India. To maintain its new position, Tata is expected to launch several SUVs in the upcoming months. In today’s article, we will see upcoming Tata SUVs in 2022-2023.

Tata C-segment car

Upcoming Tata SUVs

Tata is looking to enter the C-segment with its rumoured car codenamed the Blackbird. The Blackbird will help Tata fill the product gap between Nexon and the Harrier. This SUV is expected to get a coupe-styled design, something that recently came into light. Tata will load it with features to take on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. If Tata can bring a five-star crash rated car in this segment, it could completely change this segment.

Tata is working on a stretched-out version of the current Nexon with coupe design language. The front is expected to remain similar to the Nexon, while the rear will get a tampering roof to provide more interior space. It is expected to be 4300mm in length and 50mm bigger wheelbase than the Nexon EV. Tata is expected to launch a pure EV version first with a 40KWh battery pack. Later on, it is expected to get an ICE engine on the Coupe. Tata is also expected to give it a sportier design with the Coupe characteristics.

Safari & Harrier Petrol

Potential buyers have long been waiting for petrol-powered Safari and Harrier. SUVs although are conventionally related with diesel engines, however, with the change in trends, buyers have started looking at petrol-powered SUVs as well. We expect Tata to launch petrol variants of these SUVs sometime this year.

Sierra EV

Upcoming Tata SUVs

The Sierra has gained cult status in the Indian market. It was the first SUV designed and produced in India. Considering its importance, Tata is looking to revive the Sierra nameplate in India. It displayed a prototype version of the Sierra EV at the Auto Expo 2020. Tata is expected to market it as a luxury off-roader with a lot of comfort features. We expect the production-ready car to carry forward most elements from the concept car.
