The 2021 MG extender comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. This engine makes about 159 bhp of power and 375Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The tuck also gets a four-wheel-drive system with low range.

The MG Extender is based on that is based on the Maxus T90 platform. This is a successor to the Maxus T60 platform. The Maxus T60 platform is the basis for MG Gloster. The Gloster in the Indian market comes with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine. The same engine can be found on the MG Extender. This engine makes about 218 bhp of power and 480 Nm of torque.

First lets talk about safety features. This pick-up truck gets stability control, lane keep assist, Hill-start and descent assist and TPMS. It misses out on adaptive cruise control auto high beam and autonomous emergency braking. In terms of infotainment features, there is a 10-inch display with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a 360° camera. This pickup truck also comes with the connected car features that we see on all MG cars in India. This offers lock-unlock, vehicle location, activate horn and lights via mobile phone. It also diagnoses problems with the engine, airbags and tyres.

India Arrival?

MG had introduced this pickup truck back in 2013 for Thailand. Now we are expecting the Toyota Hilux to arrive in India. This MG pickup truck could rival the Toyota Hilux if it is priced in the same way the MG Gloster is priced below the Toyota Fortuner. Now in Thailand, this pickup truck is priced at Rs 13 to 25 lakhs.
