Skoda Kushaq finally revealed
Skoda had been preparing a mid-size SUV for the country for quite some time now. After months of continuous spy shots and speculations coming in, the Kushaq has finally been revealed today. This is the first product under Skoda’s India 2.0 campaign. In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about the Skoda Kushaq.
Exterior
The Skoda Kushaq is 4225mm long, 1760mm wide and 1612mm tall. The wheelbase has been kept at 2651mm making it the longest wheelbase in its segment. Moreover, the Kushaq has a ground clearance of 188mm. The boot has a capacity of 385-litre boot that is expandable up to 1405-litre.
Coming to the design, the Kushaq sports LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs. The tail-lamp is also an LED unit with the brake light also getting the LED treatment. The indicators and the fog lamps, however, use classic bulbs instead of LEDs.
The front gets a wide grille with chrome treatment on the outline and the grille ribs getting a shade of glossy black. The upper section of the bumper is body-coloured whereas the lower section is black. The Kushaq also gets a roof spoiler and a rear diffuser. Moreover, Kushaq sports 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Interior
Coming to the interior front, the Kushaq gets a two-spoke steering wheel with paddle-shifters, an ambient lighting system, electric sunroof, touch-controlled climate controls, rear AC vents and ventilated leather front seats. The touchscreen infotainment system at the centre is a 10-inch free-standing unit. It supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto & Apple Play as well as USB connectivity via a Type-C port.
The interior boasts a total storage capacity of 26.2-litres. The Kushaq also gets a central storage compartment along with a cooled glove box for enhancing the storage capacity of the cabin. The front-seat backs also get smartphone pockets. The seats on the Kushaq come with a 60:40 split feature.
The Kushaq also sports some smart elements like an easy-open mat in the cupholders which provides friction at the base of the bottle, allowing the passenger to open the bottle with a single hand. The cabin also gets LED reading lamps at the front as well as the rear. The Kushaq also gets 6 Skoda-speakers along with an amplifier and a subwoofer.
Engine & Transmission
The Skoda Kushaq has been loaded with a localised 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI engine which is capable of producing 113bhp and 175Nm torque. The 1.0-litre unit comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as a 6-speed torque converter. The Skoda Kushaq gets its power transferred to the front wheels.
The Kushaq will also sport a much powerful 1.5 TSI turbocharged petrol engine which can produce 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Skoda Kushaq Features & Safety
The Skoda Kushaq gets a long list of features. Wireless charging, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic rain and light sensors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control and rear parking sensors & camera along with front parking sensors. Skoda Connect connected car tech can assist the user with features like live car tracking, driving behaviour, trip analysis and other security features.
On the safety front, the Skoda Kushaq gets many features to give the passengers a sense of confidence. 6 airbags, Hill Hold Control, TPMS, Electronic Stability Control, 3-point seatbelt, ISOFIX child-mount, reflective door strips and Multi-Collision Brake.
