Emission norms are beneficial for environment but this sometimes leads to the death of some good machines in the automotive industry. Here are a few such discontinued bikes which we wish were back!

Yamaha RX100

This list had to start with the legendary RX100. This 103 kg 2-stroke bike was the most coolest bikes for many decades. It still rules wish list of lot of enthusiasts.

RD 350

The lightweight bike made 11 bhp and 10 Nm of torque. Also there was a RX135 which was slightly powerful but the weight difference wasn’t that much. This bike was used in lot of movies for chase scenes and was the teen bike of that era.

Yamaha RX 100 on the cards for manufactures performance portfolio?

Yamaha RD350

The main reason why we didn’t mention the RX135 in detail is because there was a bike which was way ahead of its time. The RD 350 was the twin cylinder two-stroke bike which was known for its decimating power to weight ratio in a production motorcycle.

RD 350

There were 2 version of this bike of which one was made in Japan and other was made in India. the Indian version made 30 bhp and the Japanese bike made 39 bhp. Just to put this in perspective the KTM 250 makes 30 bhp. Just like the KTM this bike also weighed 155 kgs. To its benefit it was parallel twin with a high revving 2 stroke motor. It offered a good torque of 32 Nm with an even spread throughout mid and top of the rev band.

Yamaha RD 350 could be born again

Yezdi 250

The Yezdi 250 Roadking was another classic bike like the Jawa. The revival of the Yezdi is expected soon as the same company which introduced the Jawa – Classic Legends – is going to bring back the Yezdi 250.

Yezdi Sketch

The Yezdi 250 Roadking made 16 bhp of power and 23 Nm of torque made it an interesting bike to ride in the city. The Yezdi was very iconic for its twin exhaust pipe layout.

Yezdi will be back!

Another cool fact about this bike was that you could kick start in any gear. This bike had a top speed of 120 km/h.

Bullet 500

This is one of the recent among the discontinued bikes from Royal Enfield. The big 499cc single cylinder engine could not pass the stricter emission norms during BS6. Also the company had the 650cc parallel cylinder engine in its lineup.

Bullet 500

The Bullet 500 made about 27 bhp and 47 Nm of torque. The low power high torque made it feel like the bike was a characteristic that was liked by many. The bike was not an enthusiasts dream but it was a bike that had its own cult following.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Review

It would be really interesting to see if there is a Royal Enfield bike in future which will have the Bullet body with the new 650cc engine which is proved to be gem on the GT and the Interceptor.

Honda CB300R

Honda CB300R was also a victim of the BS6 transition discontinued bikes. This was a good attempt from Honda but the pricing came close to the KTM Duke which was the king of the segment.

CB300 R BS4

There has been no comeback in BS6. The bike made 30 bhp and 24 Nm of torque. Lastly the bike weight 147 kg. If this bike comes back right now it does not seem to have a great future. There are two main types of bikes which the market favours and this does not fit in both. The Honda Big Wing has the CB350 H’ness and RS which cater to one of these audiences. The next bike in our list caters to the other audience.

Kawasaki Versys X-300

Versys 300X

This bike had the same engine as the Ninja 300 making about 40 bhp and 25 Nm of torque. The bike had its advantage with its light weight of 184 kg. Although the bike felt like a ninja on stilts it would have made for a good bike in the current market which has a tilt towards adventure motorcycles.
