The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is an iconic SUV from Suzuki. It has gotten a lot of success globally because of its tough looks whilst also being a compact and practical SUV. It is reminiscent of the Suzuki Gypsy that was launched in our market and became hugely popular. The car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and was successful at creating hype. Soon after, there was confirmation that the car will indeed arrive here. Now there are reports that the car might be launched as five-door rather than the three-door design that is offered internationally. Find out more below.

Five-door Design

There are some recent renderings of the car, that showcase it in the five-door avatar. The wheelbase of the car will not be changed, and it is expected to be under four metres to get the best pricing. India is a market where practicality is more important than design.

Therefore, although the Jimny will lose some of its iconic looks by getting two extra doors it will gain practicality and a lot more buyers by doing this. The overall look of the car is not expected to be changed apart from this modification in the car. The front and the back will look like the previous model itself. The chances of a three-door model to be introduced are slim as this would not get a lot of buyers.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Features

A lot of advance features will be seen on this gen of the Jimny. The SUV has a 7-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets automatic climate control and heated seats and cruise control.

The interiors of the car will also have a lot of modern touches and there will be a lot of improvement over the previous generation. The cabin is expected to resemble that of Maruti Swift.

The petrol engine produces 103 bhp and 138 nm of torque. This is also one of the most efficient engines in the market. A five-speed manual will be standard and an automatic gearbox could also be introduced. It is expected to come with a front-wheel-drive system. Although a four-wheel-drive system could also be offered as an option.

Suzuki Jimny Safety

In terms of safety features, the Euro-spec Jimny gets six airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), a seat-belt reminder and a lane-assist system, and it has also received a 3-star crash test rating from Euro NCAP.
