Maruti Ciaz BS6 launched – new variant introduced

Maruti introduced new top-of-the-line Ciaz S variant. It is basically a sports version of the Ciaz. It is priced at Rs 10.08 lakhs (ex-showroom). The pricing of Maruti Ciaz BS6 starts at Rs 8.31 lakhs and goes up to Rs 11.09 lakhs (ex- showroom) for top variant – Alpha AT.

Maruti Ciaz S – what’s new 

Maruti Ciaz S model comes with loads of cosmetic changes. It comes with signature dual tone body colour. Front bumper is revised by swapping silver elements with black. Rocker panels and ORVMs are blacked out. It also comes with trunk lid spoiler and new all-black 16 inch alloy wheels.

Not only from exterior but the interior too has sporty theme. Interior consists of new black theme with premium silver accents on the instrument panel and door handles. The Maruti Ciaz S is available in three colours namely Sangria Red, Premium Silver and Pearl Snow White. This specific model will be able to attract lots of car enthusiasts. Which eventually will help to cope sales target for Suzuki. However it will have same engine and performance as the other Maruti Ciaz trims.

BS6 Engine

Maruti Suzuki has discontinued its 1.5-litre and 1.3-litre diesel engine. 2020 Maruti Ciaz BS6 will have only 1.5-litre petrol engine option for now.

The 1.5-litre four cylinder K15B petrol engine produces 104.7 PS max power and 138 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a five-speed manual or optional four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Engine will retain Suzuki’s mild hybrid technology (SHVS) for better fuel economy.

Maruti Ciaz was launched back in 2014. Ciaz made its sales fortune right from the launch. Selling over 2.7 lakh units in just 5 years. It managed to gather 29 percent of market share in the segment. While the market has shifted towards compact SUVs, Maruti still have managed to attract customers towards their flagship sedan. Maruti Ciaz is sold through NEXA premium dealerships since 2015.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz did get two updates since it’s launch. It got a major engine addition in 2019 with introducing 1.

5-litre diesel. It’s been a few months for Maruti transitioning towards BS6. This makes it Maruti’s eleventh vehicle with a BS6 engine.
