TVS Motors had showcased the 2020 TVS Zeppelin at the Auto Expo last year. It was a concept then but now this year we can expect the bike to be seen as TVS’s first cruiser in the Indian market. With TVS bringing in the Apache RR310 which was shown as a concept Akula at the 2016 Auto Expo, we know what we can expect from a concept that was shown by TVS.
What can we expect on the 2020 TVS Zeppelin?
The concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo had a lot of features that are currently only on premium cruisers. The bike had belt drive and completely spoked wheels. These were side laced which allowed tubeless tyres to be mounted on them. Now definitely if the bike has to compete with the existing cruisers in the market then it has to keep the price in check. This means that the TVS Zeppelin will not have these features. With BS6 bikes honda has introduced ACG starter on their bike.
The TVS Eboost is somewhat a similar kind of technology. This will help the bike start faster. This will also allow getting more boost as on hybrid vehicle and it will be equipped with a regenerative braking system too. A part of this technology might make it on the production bike. This bike will get a full LED headlamp and all the lights will be LED. The seat on the bike for the rider was plush but the pillion seat was rather small. This was done to maintain the aesthetics on the concept model and it might see some change in the production vehicle. The riders triangle will be relaxed and the footpegs will be forward-set. The bike will get bar-end mirrors which will give it a Neo-retro look. The USD forks might be included but they will be smaller in diameter.
The bike will feature a complete digital speedometer which will be also shared with the Apache RR310 updated version. The engine of the concept bike was the 220cc engine. But we think that this bike will feature the 200cc BS6 engine that was featured on the Apache RTR 200 4V.
What will the Zeppelin compete with?
The 2020 TVS Zeppelin will be priced around Rs 1.30 lakhs. This will be the topmost variant. It will also have a single-channel ABS version to give it better pricing competition. The bike will compete with Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise and the upcoming Suzuki Intruder 250. The performance and mileage of this bike is expected to be much better than any of its competition. This will be because of its E-boost technology. Do check out the walkaround of the concept shown at Auto Expo 2018.
