2020 Maruti Baleno won’t have this engine

The 2019 Maruti Baleno has now been given another update in the form of a Smart Hybrid variant. Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch new 1.2-litre Dualjet, Dual VVT BS-VI engine with next-generation Smart Hybrid technology in Baleno, India’s best-selling premium hatchback. The new BS-VI compliant Baleno (Petrol) with Smart Hybrid will soon be available at NEXA showrooms across the country. Existing 1.2L VVT petrol engine variants will also be BS-VI compliant and available in all variants including CVT. Now there is news of the new 2020 Maruti Baleno to come at the start of the year.

2020 Maruti Baleno Overview

The Maruti Baleno 2019 has turned out to be an aspirational car for buyers. It is a good combination of performance and fuel efficiency. Along with that is the reliability of the Maruti brand. It is priced well. It provides loads of space, for a hatchback. The 2020 Maruti Baleno will not change this to any respect. The product will remain the same there will be an omission of the diesel products. These will get replaced with a CNG variant. While being spacious and feature-loaded, it is economical as well. It has an impressive road presence and is large in size. The interiors are also roomy and feel quite airy. The Car will continue to make its presence in the premium hatchback segment despite the addition of CNG.

2020 Maruti Baleno Price in India

The 2019 Maruti Baleno has seen a major price hike. It will continue to cost between ₹ 5.58 lakhs and ₹ 8.76 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The pricing has increased a little since it’s launch at the start of the last year for the petrol variants with the new 1.2-litre engine coming in.

The BS6 version will be an advantage to the company as the new Maruti Baleno will be exported to European markets, apart from being sold in India. This vehicle is very fuel-efficient. For the petrol engine, it will return about 13 km/l in the city and about 16km/l on the highway. The 2020 Maruti Baleno CVT will return 11 km/l in the city and about 14km/l on the highway. Even in 2020, the car will remain lightweight. 2020 Maruti Baleno Model Engine

The engines of the 2020 Maruti Baleno will not remain the same and there will be a change in them. The 1.3-litre diesel will be discontinued. These are 1.2-litre petrol will be offered with a five-speed manual, while the same will continue to have the CVT option too. The petrol engine will have great performance, complemented by the lightweight of the car. The performance of the petrol engine is currently the best in its segment. The engine is highly refined and it has good power on offer too. At the same time, this engine packs in generous torque too. There will be an option of the Baleno RS too which has a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. This will be aimed at enthusiastic drivers who like performance cars.

2020 Maruti Baleno Specifications

The current engine of the Baleno is a balance of power and economy. It produces a power of 83bhp at 6000rpm and the torque of 115Nm comes at 4000 rpm. This is pretty early in the rev range. The low-end torque gives the car an additional advantage of shifting gears early. The economy of the car improve. While driving on the highway on can cruise at 80 km/hr with an rpm of 2000. Even while moving the car around in city the gearing feels proper and you don’t have to shift gears a lot.

There are also speculations that there will be a new 1.5-litre engine introduced in the hatchback’s facelift. This engine is developed by Suzuki and will also power other cars like the new Ertiga and Ciaz. A new six-speed transmission will also make it to the car in all probability. But it won’t be coming in anytime soon. Even if it comes, it will be in after the BS6 norms come in. This will be in 2020 only.

2020 Maruti Baleno Smart Hybrid

Progressive Smart Hybrid Technology with Lithium-ion battery helps in the following –

• Idle start-stop function: The engine automatically stops when idle and silently starts when the

This technology improves the economy and gives a performance without compromising on fuel consumption. The only downside is that the Batteries add some weight but it is not noticeable.

We might see the addition of a new colour in this car. A matte black is expected as the sporty trim on the car. This new colour will not consist of any technical changes. A new colour will be added to the complete Nexa lineup of cars. This new colour will be revealed on the launch of the Maruti XL6 on 21st August.

2020 Maruti Baleno Interiors

The 2020 Maruti Baleno does not have any major change in the interiors. The basic black theme will continue to be there. New upholstery will be seen at this time. The dashboard layout will be the same. There will be no change in the headroom or legroom. It will continue to be a spacious car.

2020 Maruti Baleno Design

The Maruti Baleno 2020 will retain its basic design. It got a minor facelift in 2019. This hatchback is a relatively new model, globally. Hence the same platform and design will continue at least until 2023. Cosmetic changes done to the car, though, bring in some freshness. It will get a new front end. This includes a new front grille, which will look sportier. The headlamps will also have new projectors and will probably have better illumination. The LED daytime running lights also will be in a new shape, embedded within the headlamp assembly. The design of the Baleno will not change it will be the same as the present model.

2020 Maruti Baleno Variants

The Maruti Baleno is getting major 4 variants. These 4 variants then offer different configurations of engines. Along with that, there is also the option of CVT gearbox for 3 variants. The above table tells about the prices of each variant. All the prices are ex-showroom. The sigma variant is available only in manual and with only one engine. It does not get a hybrid setup. The Delta and Zeta variants get a Hybrid setup as well as a CVT gearbox. The Alpha trim is available with the option of automatic in addition to the manual but it does not get a Hybrid variant. This is done to keep the cost in check. There is no automatic variant in the Hybrid engines as that increases the complexity of developing the engine.

2020 Maruti Baleno Competition

The 2020 Maruti Baleno facelift will compete with the recently launched 2018 Hyundai Elite i20, the new Volkswagen Polo, and the facelift Honda Jazz. There shall also be the Tata 45X and even the Kia Rio that will be made available in a year and a half’s time. Tata Altroz will also be a new upcoming competition to the Baleno.
