Mahindra e2OPlus Price

The Mahindra e2OPlus is priced at INR 4.56 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes upto INR 8.46 lakhs (on-road, Delhi) for the top the line variant. This is one aspect, where the new government policies will come in place. For instance, in some of the metros already, there is no road tax for electric vehicles. This will help to increase sales for electric vehicles. The batteries for electric vehicles are still expensive. Some of the electric parts are still imported, and the government has even slashes taxes on those parts.

Mahindra e2OPlus Design

The new Mahindra e2OPlus gets certain upgrades in terms of design. The four door version of the car looks more well-proportioned than the regular e2O. The stylish front grille now gets Mahindra’s signature seven-vertical slats, like its other vehicles. It has a similar headlamp design of the 2-door version.

The Mahindra e2OPlus is overall quite a good looking hatchback. The exteriors look premium and the car is well designed too. More importantly it is proportionate, like a proper hatchback. The 2-door version looked a bit out of place. The two extra doors at the rear make all the difference. The Mahindra e2OPlus is longer by 310mm to the E2O. The width is also increased by 61mm and height by 25mm. The front end is similar to the E2O-2 door , however it is the side and rear that are completely different. The car gets attractive and sporty looking 13-inch alloy wheels as well.  This pleasant looking car is contemporary too. It gets projector headlamps, LED taillamps which are vertically mounted and also a rear spoiler.

The ground clearance of the Mahindra e2OPlus is good. From the rear, it looks a lot different from the 2-door E2O. The LED lamps help reduce the costing and consume less power too.

Mahindra e2OPlus Interior

The Mahindra e2OPlus has a bigger cabin. It now has more space at the rear. This time as there are four doors, the head room and knee room for rear passengers has also been increased.

This is a proper four-door vehicle. The interiors are the highlight of this electric car. They are premium and come with good number of features. The Mahindra e2OPlus offers a spacious cabin and the best part is that it has a generous legroom and headroom for the rear passengers. The boot space is 135 litres, which is adequate for small luggage and also your weekly shopping stuff. The air-con and even the same Mahindra dials  are used. The car also features an android based touchscreen system, the same as the 2-door version. The car has all four power windows, electrically adjustable power windows, and push-button start. While most things are good, we found the fit and finish to be a bit tacky. The switchgear quality and also the upholstery could have been better.

The engine on the new Mahindra e2OPlus is the same electric motor as that on the 2-door e2O. The difference is that it gets a boost in power and a better range. As the Mahindra e2OPlus is longer, it can fit in more batteries. This helps improve the range of this car. The Mahindra e2OPlus has better performance and even better range too. The rand now stands at 140 kms. However it take 9 hours to charge the battery to full. At the same time, fast charging is also available on the e2OPlus. The car can now be charged upto 90 percent in just 90 minutes. Mahindra Electric will be looking at adding more charging points across metros to improve the range.

The transmission is an automatic one. This is the same transmission that is used on the e2O. There is a boost option for quicker acceleration. The car surprised us with its response. It takes around 10 secs to reach 60 km/h from standstill.

Mahindra e2OPlus Ride and Handling

The Mahindra e2OPlus is a very usable car in the city. It has a tight turning radius of 2.5 meters. The suspension is quite good and normal bad roads are dealt reasonably well. The steering response is sharp as well.

What we felt wanting was the braking. It misses a good bite and thus can be unnerving. its fine during panic braking , but the normal braking is one which does not inspire too much confidence. This is felt more in a stop-go traffic situation and one needs to concentrate hard to apply the brakes.

Mahindra e2OPlus (e2O Plus) Range

The Mahindra e2OPlus has a long range of 140 kms. This kind of range is sufficient to last an entire day under heavy usage. The E2O Plus is now a much more practical car and will attract more buyers.
