Maruti Ignis Design
The new Maruti Ignis is a well-proportioned and stylish vehicle. It looks very trendy as well. This is a compact SUV that is about 3.7 metres in length and it has good road presence. The large front grille gives it a sporty and bold loo. The top end variant gets projector headlamps too. There is also daytime running LEDs embedded in the headlamp. These DRLs form a ring around the headlamps and look sophisticated.
The side profile does stand out and it looks stylish. The rear look is simple and has sharp lines. It has its own charm and while some may love it, some may not. The design of the Maruti Ignis is very trendy and innovative. For the first time, we see black alloy wheels on a Maruti car.

Maruti Ignis Interiors
The Maruti Ignis has one of the most stylish looking interiors, especially for the price it comes for. In terms of styling, fit and finish of the interiors, the micro SUV is just spot on. The dashboard is uncluttered and has straight lines. There is a touchscreen system on the top model and it has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink. The other features include keyless entry, push start and stop, reverse parking camera, navigation. The black and ivory interiors look stylish. For safety, dual airbags and ABS with EBD is offered as a standard feature.
The Maruti Ignis is high on space. Generally, we do complain about the rear seat space on these vehicles. however it isn’t the case with the Ignis. Both the rows are comfortable and have more than sufficient head room and knee room. The boot size is decent enough for a vehicle of this size. Overall, there is hardly anything to actually complain in the car.

Maruti Ignis Engine
In terms of engine options, Maruti will be continuing with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel options. These engines power other cars from Maruti as well, including the Swift and Baleno. The petrol churns out 82bhp of power and 75bhp is for the diesel. Both these engines are offered with a five-speed manual and AMT option. Both the engines are peppy, but our preference is the petrol. This is quick and nippy. The diesel engine was surprisingly silent. In terms of performance, the AMTs are good enough too for daily city driving. There isn’t a major difference in the performance of the manual and the AMT when you drive the latter in the manual mode.
Maruti Ignis Ride and Handling
The Maruti Ignis does a good job in the ride and handling department. First, let us begin with the basic usage. The steering wheel is light and one can zip through city traffic and tight lanes without any issues. The ride quality is just fine for daily use. When you drive on an open road, the handling does support the engine boost. This makes it easy to drive comfortably even on the highway. The car seems to be stable however it is the steering wheel that feels slack at higher speeds. We wish it did weigh up a bit. However, it is fine and one needs to get used to it.
Maruti Ignis Mileage (Expected)
Maruti Ignis Mileage
Both the petrol and the diesel engines shall be highly fuel-efficient. This petrol engine will return about 13km/l in the city and about 16km/l on the highway. On the other hand, the diesel will return 16 km/l and 20km/l in the city and on the highway respectively. The AMTs will see a reduction in efficiency by about 10%.
