Upcoming 4X4s in India – Know them here!
SUVs have gained a lot of traction in the country due to the plethora of affordable options available in the market today. Massive road presence, high ground clearance and tall seating position make them a perfect option for many. There is one more characteristic that resonates with SUVs; 4X4. Although carmakers do not offer 4X4 in many affordable cars these days (in order to control the final costs), there are a few cars coming soon that will be made available with 4X4 capabilities. In today’s article, we will look at the upcoming 4X4s in India.
Maruti Jimny
Maruti is expected to unveil the Jimny by the end of this year. We will mostly get to see the 5-door variant of the Jimny in India. Being an off-roading product, the Jimny is expected to come with 4X4 capabilities for enthusiasts to enjoy. The car will come with Maruti’s 1.5-litre petrol engine. Diesel engine options might also be made available with the car due to its off-roading nature.
Mahindra Thar 5-door
Mahindra is readying a 5-door variant of the Thar. This variant will cater to the needs of buyers who love to off-road and love to travel with their families. With that being said, the 5-door Thar will be made available with a 4X4 drivetrain, similar to the 3-door variant.
Tata Safari
Tata Safari is a strong product in the segment that it sits in. A camouflaged variant of the Safari was spotted in Pune recently, hinting at a 4X4 variant in the works. We have separately covered that story. You can read it by clicking on the link below.
Mahindra Scorpio
Mahindra Scorpio is coming in a new avatar to take on products like Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and others that fall in these segments. The car will come with a modern design and features that will give it a stronghold in the price bracket that it sits in. The new Scorpio will be made available with a 4X4 drivetrain.
Mahindra XUV700
Mahindra XUV700 is a much-awaited product in the market. This 7-seater from Mahindra is expected to change the segment standards with the features that will be on offer. Dual-zone climate control, flush door handles, single-piece display and the biggest-in-segment panoramic sunroof will be some of them. The car is expected to be made available with a 4X4 drivetrain as well.
New-gen Renault Duster
Renault Duster is one of the oldest mid-size SUVs in the country. The Duster was available with a 4X4 drivetrain before the BS6 emission norms were brought into action. With the discontinuation of diesel engines by Renault post-BS6, the 4X4 drivetrain also had to be let go of. However, we expect the brand to bring the new-gen Duster to the country. With the coming of the new-gen car, we expect Renault to bring back the 4X4 drivetrain as well.
