Ford Endeavour new variants discontinued

The new SUV no longer has the manual variants, 2.2-litre 4×4 MT, 3.2-litre AT Trend. The Ford Endeavour 2017 now gets SYNC3, which means it now has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is a more advanced system with more features.

Unfortunately there is a hike in price and the updated prices are below. What is the exact increase? We aren’t certain, we have asked Ford about it. Ford Endeavour 2017 Price in India (Revised)

The company had recently hiked the pricing of the new Ford Endeavour by about INR 2.0 lakhs (on-road) for the top-of-the-line 3.2-litre AT model. It has also dropped the price pf its base variants by approx. INR 3 lakhs (on-road). Recently, Ford had reduced the pricing of the Figo and the Figo Aspire as well.

Ford Endeavour 2017 Design

The Ford Ranger pick-up platform underpins the all-new Ford Endeavour 2016.  This is a ladder -on-frame construction and has its inherent strengths of durability and ruggedness. It doesn’t have a jazzy styling but looks premium. The Ford Endeavour 2016 reminds you of the classic American muscle trucks. It comes with a new trapezoidal front grille which has horizontal slats. Then there are projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a roof-mounted rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. An Endeavour branded chrome strip runs across the tailgate between the tail lamp clusters. This makes it look premium.

The Ford Endeavour 2016 is rugged and sleek. This SUV is 4892mm long and has a ground clearance of 225mm. This allows the Ford Endeavour 2016 to tackle any kind of terrain with ease. Ford Endeavour 2017 Interior

The Ford Endeavour 2016 has a tall stance and you are in command of the road while being seated. The contemporary interiors provide a premium feel. The neat, straight and a proportionately laid out dashboard is pleasing to the eyes. The colour theme is two-tone black and light beige which looks rich and feels luxurious too. The dashboard top is covered in leather. A touch-screen is placed in the centre with two vertical AC vents on either sides. The Auto AC switches of the Ford Endeavour 2016 are placed below which feature a dual zone climate control.

The steering wheel of the Ford Endeavour 2016 is chunky and a delight to use. It is loaded with buttons on both sides, which are for the audio, bluetooth, cruise control and the multi information display. The instrument cluster of the Ford Endeavour 2016 is an interesting one. It has a small analogue speedometer in the centre, with two screens on either side. The left side screen is an interface for the audio, bluetooth telephony, outside temperature, compass and digital clock. The right side screen has a fuel gauge and a digital tachometer that also doubles up as the trip meter and fuel efficiency info. A gear indicator sits below the speedometer.

The third row seats are electrically foldable, with the help of a button placed in the boot. This makes it very convenient during loading luggage. The Ford Endeavour 2016 also has an electric boot.

Ford Endeavour 2017 Engine

The Ford Endeavour 2016 has two engine options, one is a 2.2-litre diesel with 158bhp of power at 3200rpm and 385Nm torque at 1600-2500rpm. The other is a 3.2-litre diesel unit with 198bhp of power at 3000rpm and a massive 470Nm torque at 1750-2500rpm. The 2.2-litre engine comes mated to a six-speed manual as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. The manual gearbox has a 4×2 as well as a 4×4 option. The 3.2-litre comes only with the six-speed automatic and 4×4 option in the Ford Endeavour 2016.

The front suspension on the Ford Endeavour 2016 is an independent coil spring with anti-roll bar and the rear is a coil spring linkage type with anti-roll bar. There are disc brakes on all fours wheels.  The engine of the Ford Endeavour 2016 responds quickly to throttle inputs and the little bit of initial lag that is typical of an automatic transmission, is minimal on this SUV. Ford Endeavour 2017 Features

The feature-packed new Ford Endeavour 2016 comes with first time features in its class. The Sync infotainment has voice enabled interface and the audio system has USB, AUX and SD card inputs. Power windows get anti-pinch feature with auto up/down. Powered mirrors with auto -folding, tilt steering, leather upholstery, rear parking sensors, dual zone climate control, cruise control, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are some other features.

There is a powered tailgate on the Ford Endeavour 2016. It opens and closes at the touch of a button, another segment-first feature. In terms of safety, it comes with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse camera with park assist, hill launch assist and hill descent control. The 3.2-litre version additionally has a panoramic sunroof as well. There are 2 trim levels in the 2.2-litre version, which are Trend and Titanium, whereas the 3.2-litre version comes only in the top-end Titanium trim.

The driver seat on the Ford Endeavour 2016 has a eight-way electric adjustment and has a lumbar adjustment as well. front and 2nd row seats are comfortable and there is adequate space here, however the third row is cumbersome to reach for adults and also being seated comfortably. It is clearly best suited for children. The second row seats of the Ford Endeavour 2016 have a 60:40 split and the third row has a 50:50 split. The AC vents for the rear passengers are embedded into the roof .

Ford Endeavour 2017 Ride and Handling

The steering of the Ford Endeavour 2017 is very light during parking and weighs up brilliantly with increase in speed. The Endeavour is very easy to maneuver in the city, the park assist function further aids parallel parking. On the highway, the vehicle shows great composure and handles superbly, with body roll being well in control.

The ride of the Ford Endeavour 2017 is on the stiffer side, but not to the extent of being uncomfortable and does not feel like a typical ladder-frame chassis. Another thing worth mentioning is the silent cabin and we were very impressed with it. There is hardly any engine, wind or road noise intruding inside, making journeys even more comfortable. The seats too are bolstered in the right areas and are spacious.

The New Ford Endeavour 2016 lives up to the hype it has been creating for the last one year. The Endeavour not only looks good but also surpasses its competition on many counts, including drive dynamics and features. Ford has priced the Endeavour quite aggressively to win back the status it enjoyed a decade ago. With the kind of product offered, we sure hope it does reclaim its spot.
