Yamaha MT-03 Design
It terms of looks the MT-03 gets a beefy fuel tank. The bike has a perfect sculpted look that makes its naked look even more appealing. The headlamp is smallish, with a compact cowl surrounding it. The track-inspired riding position seen in the R3 will not make it to this bike, so expect an altered peg-to-handlebar ratio. Speaking of the latter, the clip-ons from the faired sibling understandably get the boot here, with a street friendly, wide, single-piece handlebar replacing it. The chassis is exposed and the tail-lamp shrinks to fit into the classic mould. A slightly upright position will help riders in the city and also use it as a daily commute bike.

|
Location | Mileage |
City | 22 km/l |
Highway | 28 km/l |

The MT-03 should return about 28 km/l in a mix of city and highway riding. An average fuel efficiency around this much can be expected. As this is a twin cylinder, the mileage will be lower, specially at higher revs. The engine will be easy revving and consuming more fuel, but then even the performance will be better.

Yamaha MT-03 Competition
The MT-03 will mainly compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Z250 and the Benelli TNT 300, both proper twin-cylinder machines. However, as a naked street bike, it will also compete with the upcoming BMW G310R, KTM Duke 390 and the Bajaj Dominar 400. Though the latter three will differ in price, the Yamaha MT-03 is expected to appeal to the evolved rider. The smoothness of a twin is addictive, hence those who love this arrangement, will look at buying the MT-03, albeit a higher price tag.
