This Ssangyong Rexton will be allegedly christened as Mahindra XUV 700. Mahindra would not want to brand it as Rexton, because of its initial failure. This SUV was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, where it still had the Rexton badging. The internal code name for the car is Y400.
Last we knew was, that this cars launch was delayed. The car will be launched next month but not on 9th, October. Mahindra was going to postpone the launch of this SUV into the last week of October. Mahindra and Mahindra have now officially announced that its all-new SUV – Y400 will be launched on 19th November this year. It will be Mahindra’s most expensive SUV in the market and will be placed above the XUV 500. The upcoming SUV will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V, Skoda Kodiaq and the Toyota Fortuner.
The Mahindra XUV700 will be a localised product. It drivetrain will be suited for local conditions. It looks modern, fresh and designed for the Indian market. Mahindra wants to pit it against the Toyota Fortuner and get our own desi version of a full-size SUV. It will be offered globally with petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric options. What all will India get? Read further to know more.
Mahindra XUV 700 Launch Date in India
Mahindra XUV 700
Mahindra was looking to get the XUV 700 in the first quarter of 2019. But, now the date has been stepped up. The car will be launched right around the festive season. The new XUV 700 will become the new flagship for the Mahindra brand. This will help them to enhance their sales numbers. This new SUV will have a good range and network. The only change in the initial launch period and timing is that the car will be launched in the last week of October now. This we think is being done because of the launch of the Hyundai Santro and Aspire facelift. Mahindra will now launch the car on 19th November.
We have seen good improvements in Mahindra vehicles lately. The KUV100 NXT is an example of that. Mahindra believes in adopting new technologies quickly. Their vehicles are now more reliable and offer a good mix of performance and utility. The Mahindra XUV 700 will be an affordable SUV, but the premium quotient will still be high. Though technologies will be shared with Ssangyong, this SUV will be manufactured locally. The powertrain also will be suited for Indian conditions. It will be priced aggressively and this help it grab some market share from the Fortuner and Endeavour.
Mahindra XUV 700 Spy Shots
The XUV700 is going to be a big car and maneuvering it is going to be a challenge. Thus, in the spy shots we see the big touchscreen with the 360 degree camera. There are going to be a minimum of four cameras mounted on the sides of the car. They will sync up and provide a 360 degree vision for driver. These cameras will also help in off-roading and making sure that you can park or drive in narrow lanes without hitting obstacles. The XUV 700 is going to be a bigger car than the the Toyota Fortuner and this feature will be more than the add-on and more of a need.
Mahindra XUV 700 Price in India
|Minimum Price||₹ 20 Lakh|
|Maximum Price||₹ 29 Lakh|
(ex-showroom price, expected)
This new SUV will be competing with the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour primarily. As this will have the home advantage, the price of the Mahindra XUV 700 will be a lot more aggressive. We reckon it will start from where the top model of the XUV500 is available. So, this new SUV will be priced in the range of ₹ 21 lakhs to₹ 27 lakhs (ex-showroom). This will mean cheaper than the competition. by atleast about Rs 5-7 lakhs. This will make it an exciting package. The XUV 700 being a Mahindra product, it will have the advantage of wider network too.
Mahindra XUV 700 Mileage
The Mahindra XUV 700 will try to be fuel efficient as well. The petrol is expected to offer a mileage of around 8km/l and the diesel about 12km/l in the city. On the highway, it should return around 11km/l and the diesel about 14km/l. There will be an electric version for India instead of an hybrid, which will be available for overseas markets. We expect the range of the electric batteries to be about 300 kilometres in one charge at least as even the KUV 100 electric will have that kind of a range.
Mahindra XUV 700 Design
The new design language will be similar to other Mahindra vehicles. There will be the seven slat front grille, a lot of lines running across. It will look like a proper SUV and not a crossover. 17-inch alloy wheels will be seen on this SUV and the Mahindra XUV 700 will look proportionate from every angle. There will be a AWD option available and the SUV will have scuff plates below. This will improve its ability to go off the road with ease.

The 18-inch wheels are present on this vehicle and it will even have roof rails too.
Mahindra XUV 700 Interior Images
The Mahindra XUV 700 will get an all-new dashboard. The images of the same have not yet been released. There will be many elements similar to the Rexton. Most of the materials that shall be used will be the same. However, the touch and feel will be more premium. It will come with a neat centre console, which has a large dashboard, touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There shall be reverse camera too. The infotainment system will be about 7-inch in lower variants and about 10-inch in higher variants.
There will be cruise control in the Mahindra XUV 700 and we can expect this one to be adaptive one and the micro-hybrid technology too. The seats will be well-bolstered for good comfort of long journeys. There will be rear AC vents for the second and third row. Mahindra will also offer a better NVH package on the XUV 700. 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara will rival the Creta 7 seater, will be shown at the 2020 Auto Expo
The Maruti Vitara will be the Creta fighter from Maruti. The new Maruti Vitara SUV will be positioned above the Vitara Brezza. This SUV is bigger than the Vitara Brezza in size and is also more spacious inside. Most importantly this car will be taking on the Hyundai Creta 7 seater. The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be a fierce competitor to the Hyundai Creta. Maruti will try and price this car in the ruglar 5 seater Creta’s price range and make it a bit more competitive for Hyundai when they get the new 7 seater version of the Creta. The Korean maker will see a major challenger now in this segment. The Vitara Brezza is the best selling SUV in India and Maruti would want the Vitara also to be the best seller. It will be interesting to see this battle.
The Maruti S-Cross is actually Maruti’s natural competitor for the Creta, but the Creta is better in terms of engine options and features. It is also bigger in size and has a better road presence. Despite a recent facelift, the S-Cross is not selling expected volumes. It has got more crossover looks than a proper SUV and that may be a turn-off for many buyers. The S-Cross will continue to sell, but its crossover imagery will remain. The Vitara, on the other hand, would be a proper SUV in comparison. The pricing also would be more premium as compared to the S-Cross. The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara will come with new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, to take on the 7-seater Creta. It is likely to be sold from the Nexa experience showrooms. What all does the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara have? When will it be launched? Read further to know more about this upcoming SUV.

Tesla Auto Pilot drives asleep drunk driver at 112km/hr
When one goes out drinking, he should not take his or her car. The rule is basically to not get behind the wheel once you are intoxicated. Even if you did drive to party and proceeded to drink, driving the car back home is a big no-no. In this story, the intoxicated owner of the Tesla will not only have risked getting into the car and drive. But let the Tesla’s Auto Pilot take control of the car. This incident took place in California, USA. The car was a Tesla Model S.
This happened late at night when a CHP(California Highway Patrol) officer driving south on Highway 101 in Redwood City noticed a Model S traveling at 112km/hr, which is above the posted limit. When the CHP officer pulled alongside the car, he noticed that the driver appeared to be asleep while the car was in motion. After a few miles of attempting to wake the driver up using lights and sirens, another police cruiser joined the pursuit to position itself in front of the Tesla, which caused it to slow down as part of normal Autopilot operation.
All in all, it took about 11 kilometers for the Tesla to come to a stop in the right hand lane. It took the police officers a few more minutes to wake up the driver, who was taken to a Shell petrol station where he reportedly failed a field sobriety test(American Drunk Driving Test). The offender, Alexander Samek, who is the chair of the Los Altos planning commission was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence and was taken to the San Mateo County Jail in California.
This might sound like a first, but the California Highway Patrol has already encountered another drunk driver asleep at the wheel in a Tesla set on Autopilot. In that incident, the driver had been operating the vehicle while at twice the legal alcohol limit. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of this story is that the car was able to travel at least seven miles on Autopilot without disengaging (and that the car didn’t crash into anything or anyone). Auto Pilot normally disengages after a while when the system does not see a input from driver.
All said, the Tesla Autopilot should not be used as a defense for drinking and driving charges. The system should not be relied upon regardless of whether the driver is drunk or sober. Tesla themselves caution, that drivers using the semi-autonomous feature must keep their hands on the steering wheel, stay alert, and be ready to take over within a moment’s notice.
What do you thin about this incident? Do you think that the Auto Pilot system should be used in such circumstances? Do you think in the future system will be held responsible rather than humans? Let us know in the comments below.
MG India SUV – Will it be called the Gloster? + new spy shots
Many of us neither heard or spoken ever, about the MG marquee. It has never come to India and only those in automotive circles know, MG Rover. MG was brought in it’s time of need by the Chinese company, SAIC. The company is known for making products on the GM and Volkswagen platforms it has got licenses for. Rover was Land Rover which was brought by Ford before being sold to Tata. Since then we haven’t hear much about MG until last year when the company decided to use the Halol plant in Gujarat as its base. There is also a rumor that the car will be called Gloster. The car will be made in India at the Halol plant in Gujarat. The car will also be the first MG India SUV. We have also got some new spy shots of the car, do scroll down for more.
On our recent visit to China we got a chance to get reacquainted with MG Motors and get acquainted with the parent company SAIC. We learnt that the company’s first product which is going to launch in India in the second half of next year will be an SUV larger than the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. However, we expect the pricing to be below this segment, making the MG SUV a market breaking product and something other manufactures will take notice of.
Gloster SUV Launch
MG will launch this product in India next year, around April. The vehicle will be made in the MG’s Halol plant. As we have known the Bajoun SUV has been spotted testing in India many times now. This will the first product to be launched in India by MG. MG will be then launching a product every year in India.

MG India SUV Price

Top tips to get your car ready before winter
Now most of us in our country will not face a big issue in winter. In the southern parts of India and even in the middle bit, winter means good weather and pleasant afternoons followed by a cozy night. But for the northern parts of the country, the dip in temperatures can be fatal. When we mean fatal, we also mean the roads. Indian roads are dangerous and people in the border states and the regions that will experience snowfall or low temperature should follow and execute the following suggestions –
Check your tyres
Your tyres are the only thing between you and the car in this environment. The tyres with wear and less tread can mean that your car will more likely fail you in slippery slush and wet roads during winters. The car with better tread will have more traction and will thus be able to grip better on slippery surfaces during winters. Some manufactures also recommend that a car be fitted with winter tyres, and that the AWD or transmission will then change and calibrate itself and the settings to help with the new winter tyre in place.
Check your First Aid Kit
Cars should always be equipped with a first aid kit. All manufactures do provide a basic first aid kit for the car, But in the winters, one must bulk up the first aid kit. Along with the basic first aid kit, one must include a flash light, road flares, a few blankets, a few pairs of gloves, a dry set of clothes for the drivers, some tarpaulin and some high energy snacks like dry fruits and protein bars.
Check your engine coolant and antifreeze levels
Now this really applies to the northern states that will receive heavy snowfall and the temperature will go below freezing, In these regions, antifreeze is your car engine best friend. Antifreeze is the magical substance that keeps your engine from freezing during those times when you feel like you are freezing. Without it, your engine can freeze, leaving you in a real tough spot at a time when it’s dangerous to be stranded.
Check your battery
Cold temperatures mean your engine needs more current from the battery in order to start so you want to make sure the battery is functioning properly. Start by making sure you have enough charge left in your battery. The most simple way to check is by turning on your headlights before you start your engine. Then turn your engine on – if the lights get brighter your battery may be dying. You can test the actual voltage at home with a voltmeter or have your mechanic do a test for you. Some batteries also have a built-in hydrometer that measures the voltage. You’ll also want to check the cables for cracks and brakes. Finally, ask your mechanic to check the battery fluid.
Check your heater
The heater in a car during winter can make all the difference to the journey and can sometimes be life saving. You do not want to catch pneumonia while driving. Have the heater running and checked before winter. Also have the cars seals, widows and other cracks checked before the winter.
Keep you fuel tank full
Apparently the cold weather can cause condensation to form in an empty or near empty gas tank. That water can drip down into the gas and and sinks to the bottom where it can then travel into your fuel lines. In the winter it can freeze in your fuel lines and block the flow of gas to your engine. Not good! So keep your tank at least half full during winter.
Please do let us know about your winter preparedness and other tips that you think should make this list

|KIA SP||November, 2019|
KIA SP India Name
There are many rumors surrounding the name of the car! It will not be called the SP Concept for sure. The name of the car could be Tusker. Many other automotive websites are calling the car this name. We think KIA will have focus groups and research conducted for the most suitable name for this car. It will be a name that is going to attract audiences globally.
Kia SP India Price
Internationally Kia has the reputation of being the alternative to Hyundai cars and in some cases, the cheaper alternative. In India, we don’t know how they will handle the market with Hyundai. We do know that they will be competitive. We had predicted that the Kia SP India will not be more expensive than Hyundai Creta. It should be within the 15 lakh price range. No we have reports saying that the car will be around Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs.
|Kia SP Concept variants||Price|
|Base variant||Rs 10 lakhs – Rs 12 lakhs|
|Mid variant||Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs|
|Top variant||Rs 14 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs|
Kia SP India Design
The Kia SP Concept has all the hallmarks of the latest Kia design language. Dominating the face is the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille which part of Kia’s design language. There are sleek headlamps and silver colored bash plate element. On to the side we see the rear sloping roof line, white colored roof and massive wheels with the multi-spoke alloy wheel design. The appearance is enhanced by the grey cladding that runs all around the base of the Kia SP India as well as over the heavily flared wheel arches. At the rear, it is a mix of elements thanks to the chrome exhaust setup as well as chrome line that runs across the top section of the body. The chrome also goes through the tail light assembly.
Kia SP India Interior
There is no word on the interiors of the Kia SP India. We expect the production guise to get the standard Kia fare that is present on its SUVs, sedans as well as hatchbacks. Given its positioning, we believe that all the D-segment features like a touch screen system, climate control and faux leather upholstery will be a part of the feature package. Since it will go up against the Hyundai Creta, features like sunroof, cruise control, automatic headlamps, engine start stop, automatic climate control and wireless charging for the phone are expected. The infotainment system should get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There should also be a a set of fast charging USB ports. The car will also get a lot of storage space, a cooled glovebox and a large center console. The theme of the interior will be black and beige like other KIA cars we have seen in international markets. The 2nd row of this car will also get a lot of utility in the form of rear AC vents, charging sockets, a armrest and cup holders. The bootspace will be ample with a low loading lip.

Kia SP India Spy Shots
This is a picture we have got recently of the KIA SP Concept in its production version; being tested out on the roads and it does bear resemblance to it’s concept version. The Tiger grille, the large air vent on the bumper and the tapering off headlights do give it an aggressive look. The KIA SP India in some ways does reflect the design language of the Tata Harrier with it’s high mounted DRLs and raised fog lights.

KIA SP India Render
A new rendering of the Kia SP India SUV is also here. Done by Koo Ki Sung studio. This render will be the production version of the Kia SP Concept that made its global debut at the Auto Expo 2018. Here is how it is visualised. The production version of the Kia SP here, looks like a slightly toned-down version of the futuristic looking Kia SP India. The render shows off many of the design elements, including sleek LED headlamps, a wide grille and the auxiliary lamps. The render shows the blacked-out A-pillars and the front bumper is close to the one on the concept model. The design of the Kia Tusker you below in the render is as Kia said, ‘will be very close” to its concept’.
By the looks of it, the SUV should rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur. The SP Concept features sharp design elements such as LED headlamp eyebrows, LED tail lights and dynamic turn indicators on the ORVMs. Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille gets a revised look for India as well. Kia says that the concept features a production-ready design and the one coming to Kia showrooms across the country will look a lot like it. Engine options have not been confirmed, though a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol and a 1.6-litre, turbocharged diesel are expected to find their place under the bonnet. Expect the production version of the SUV to be priced withen Rs 10-15 lakh.

Nothing on this is out yet. We can say though that there will be the option of one-litre and 1.6-litre engine. The car could have both petrol and diesel engines on option. Both manual and a CVT automatic transmission could be considered for India. AWD is not expected to be offered on the SP as it is not in high demand in India – the Renault Duster is the only SUV in the segment to offer it and it’s not setting the sales charts on fire. There are many details about this car that are yet to come out. Leike the Nexon, we could see different driving modes. We could see the Kia SP also get aids like traction control, ESP and cruise control.
