New Mahindra Scorpio in the making

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio is in the making. This will be the company’s fourth-generation of this SUV and this time Mahindra Scorpio shall be targeting the global market. The new Mahindra Scorpio this time shall be a global product and it is being designed in Mahindra’s American Research and Development centre. At the same time, a pick-up version is also being worked upon. At the moment, the Mahindra Scorpio is in its third generation and this SUV has seen a major update in its chassis and interiors. The next-generation shall see a major upgrade in everything. What could be the changes? Read further.

New Mahindra Scorpio Launch Date

At the moment, this is Scorpio is still in its very early stages. Codenamed as the Z101, this new Mahindra Scorpio should be launched by 2020. Nothing before that. The current Scorpio was launched in 2014 and will be there atleast for another six years. At the moment, the Mahindra USA R&D team has been working on the U321, a new MUV that will be competing with the Toyota Innova. This new MUV should be launched within the next 12 months.

New Mahindra Scorpio Design

Based on a design and a chassis that will appeal to the global audience, the new Mahindra Scorpio will have multiple changes on it. To begin with, it shall meet the global crash norms, it will have multiple airbags on offer and mostly it will have a highly modular platform, which will be light in weight too. The new Scorpio won’t be a monocoque as it will have even a pick-up truck sharing the same platform. With regards to the engine, it could be sharing its powertrain with the new-gen Ssangyong. With Mahindra increasing its spendings on hybrid, there is likely to be a hybrid powertrain on offer too. There should even be an autobox and 4×4 version as additional variants too. This time, Mahindra will be working on a petrol engine to get an advantage in the American car market.
