Before getting to the Mahindra Scorpio Classic, let’s understand the scores of old Scorpio and Bolero Neo. Also, do note that the old Scorpio, Bolero Neo, and the Scorpio Classic, share the same body structure. Talking about the old Scorpio, the SUV tested was equipped with no airbags, hence, it scored 0-safety ratings. Whereas the Bolero Neo comes with two airbags and so had a better result. Also, the Bolero Neo scored ratings on the side impact test. For the frontal impact, the structure was so poor that it failed to secure passengers. That said, with airbags, the side collision was better and gained 1-star ratings.

Talking about the Mahindra Scorpio Classic, the SUV comes with two front airbags. That said, just like the Bolero Neo, the Scorpio Classic could also score 1-star ratings. Again, the score will be achieved during the side impact test and we can expect a similar overall score of 20.26 out of 34. Although it will score 1-star rating in future, the issue of bending A-pillars and collapsing roof will continue as it is the same body on all three mentioned SUVs. So even though the SUV scored 1-star ratings, the overall body shell is unfortunately unstable.
