Maruti Jimny Rival Launched!

The sub-4 metre SUV segment is one of the hottest segments in India. We have some popular SUVs like Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny. Even the more sophisticated Tata Nexon EV measures under 4 metres in length. Now to compete with these SUVs, MG has launched the Yep plus in China. But why are we discussing this? Well, it is said that MG will likely launch the Yep and Yep plus in India as well.

MG Yep Plus – Price 

MG Yep plus is a four door SUV based on the MG Comet. In China, MG has launched the Yep plus between CNY 93,800 to 103,800. If we convert the amount in INR, it accounts to Rs 10 to 12 lakh. However, we will see a rise in the prices while the Yep plus makes its way to India. That said, in India, the MG Yep plus could be launched anywhere between Rs 17 to Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Design 

In terms of design, MG Yep plus boasts a boxy design like any typical SUV. Upfront it gets LED headlamps with closed-up grille and chunky front bumpers. The side profile looks tall and sits on chunky 16-inch alloy wheels. Also, on the rear quarter glass, we can see a plain element which is similar to the one we can see on the Land Rover Defender. At the rear the SUV has a unique design for the tailgate handle. In fact it seems the tailgate is a side opening unit.

MG Yep Plus – Interior & Features

Inside the MG Yep plus, we can see a futuristic cabin like we saw on the Comet. The dashboard has a clean design which houses a floating 10-inch touchscreen system. Also, we are expecting a lot of soft touch materials all over the cabin, including on the dashboard and door panels. Now it is too early to speak but it seems that the interior colour theme could be matched with the colours of the exterior body. Overall, it has a very luxurious interior with a decent use of high quality materials.

In terms of features, the MG Yep plus gets a 10-inch touchscreen system, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, all four disc brakes, premium speakers, automatic headlamps, drive modes, and a lot more.

Specifications

The MG Yep plus gets a 41.9 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 401kms. This battery is paired with electric motors which produces 100bhp & 180Nm of peak torque. In the future we can even see an AWD version. Lastly, the top speed of the Yep plus is likely locked at 150kph.
