The Tayron this time has been spotted testing in Germany. This spied model is quite different from the one unveiled in China. Actually, this version looks like a proper 7-seater model with a massive road presence. At the front, the Tayron looks quite similar to the new Tiguan. The bumper and air dam design is the same as the Tiguan. In the side profile, we can see the large proportion of the 7-seater SUV. Coming to the rear, we have conventional tail lamps with no connecting element.

What else do we know?

Dimension-wise, the Tayron is 4,735mm in length, 1,859mm in width and 1,682mm in height. The Chinese model comes with a dashboard filled with touchscreens and an overall premium outlook. This global model could also come with similar interior bits. The Tayron is based on the new MQB EVO platform; this platform also underpins the new Skoda Kodiaq and the new Tiguan. Globally, the Tayron is expected to come with several petrol, hybrid and diesel options.  In India, we can only expect the 2.0-litre turbo petrol that powers the Kodiaq. The chances of Hybrid and diesel engine options coming to India are quite slim.

According to reports, Volkswagen could bring the Tayron to India through the CKD route. It remains to be seen which version comes to India, the one spied in Germany or the Chinese version. Once launched, it will rival cars like the segment leader Toyota Fortuner and other options that include Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster.
