starting off the list with the only hatchback on this list which is the Tata Altroz. The biggest USP of the Altroz is its 5-star safety rating. It is also the only car in this price range to come with all types of fuel options. We have a naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol, CNG and diesel option. Additionally, it also comes with a DCA gearbox making it the most affordable option with a dual-clutch gearbox. Other features on the Altroz include a wireless charger, auto headlamps, cruise control, Harman sound system etc. Pricing of the Altroz starts from Rs 7.85 lakh and goes to Rs 13.08 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

Hyundai Exter

Next up, we have the Hyundai Exter, which is Hyundai’s entry-level SUV option. Like other cars on this list, the Exter also ticks a lot of boxes. Being a Hyundai, it comes loaded with features like 8.0-inch infotainment, steering-mounted controls, front & rear speakers, electric sunroof, cruise control and automatic climate control. Engine-wise, it comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 81bhp and 113Nm of torque. The Exter also comes with a CNG option for mileage-conscious buyers. Space-wise, the Exter offers an ample amount of space. Three people can sit in the back, but it is not the most comfortable on long journeys. Pricing of the Exter starts from Rs 7.22 lakh and goes to Rs 12.19 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

Top cars in 10 lakh – Tata Punch

Another micro-SUV on the list is the Punch, which started the whole trend. Overall the Punch is another solid package from Tata Motors. It comes with a 5-star crash test rating, decent performance and a good amount of features. Talking about specs, it comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 86bhp and 115Nm of torque. Like the Altroz, it comes with the twin-cylinder technology opening up space in the boot. Feature-wise, the Punch comes with features like a 7.0-inch infotainment system, Harman sound system, cooled glove box, auto headlamps, reverse parking camera, semi-digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof and cruise control. The Punch also offers a good amount of comfort. The price of the Punch starts from Rs 7.27 lakh and goes to Rs 12.16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Maruti Baleno/Fronx

Under Rs 10 lakhs, the Baleno and Fronx offer great value. The Sigma and Delta variants of the Fronx are slightly better than the Baleno. In the Fronx, you get the extra ground clearance and a sporty look. They come with the tried and tested 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The Fronx additionally also comes with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The feature list on both cars is identical with things like a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, ARKAMY sound system, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, six airbags etc. Pricing-wise, the Baleno starts from Rs 7.74 lakh, while Fronx starts from Rs 8.71 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

Top cars in 10 lakh – Nissan Magnite

The Magnite shook the market due to its pricing and features. Still, overall as a package, the Magnite is quite value for money. It also comes with a 4-star crash test rating, which is quite good. Under the hood, the Magnite comes with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Both engines come with manual and automatic gearboxes. Feature-wise, you get a digital instrument cluster, 360-degree, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 8.0-inch infotainment etc. Pricing-wise, the Magnite starts from Rs 7.38 lakh and goes to Rs 13.22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
