Rs 8 Lakh Toyota SUV Launched!

Finally after a long wait, Toyota has launched their new SUV, the Urban Cruiser Taisor. Just like other Toyota-Maruti cars, the Urban Cruiser Taisor is based on the Maruti SUV Fronx. It will rival the Tata Punch and other SUVs, including the Maruti Fronx. So what’s really different about the Taisor from the Fronx? And how much does it cost?

New Toyota SUV – Price 

Talking about the launch price, Toyota has introduced the Urban Cruiser Taisor at a starting price of Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas the top model V AT Dual Tone will cost you Rs 13.03 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the Maruti Fronx has been priced between Rs 7.52 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom). Exterior 

Compared to the Fronx, the Urban Cruiser Taisor boasts the similar headlamps, tail lamps and bumpers. In fact the front grille and LED DRLs are very similar to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The side profile is similar to the Fronx with sloping roofline but sits on different alloy wheels. At the rear you do get connected LED tail lamps like the Fronx but the overall treatment is different. Overall, the Urban Cruiser Taisor looks very similar to the Maruti Fronx but Toyota has tried to give the SUV a family look.

New Toyota SUV – Interior 

As speculated earlier, the overall interior or the dashboard design is very similar to the Fronx. The steering wheel is also the same but gets Toyota badge instead of Suzuki. The colour theme is also the same but the seat upholstery is slightly different. That said, the feature list remains identical to the Maruti Fronx. It gets features like – 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, heads-up display, six airbags, ARKAMYS Surround Sense, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features include 6-Airbags, ABS + EBD, ESC etc.

Engine Specifications

Toyota Taisor gets similar engine options as the Maruti Fronx. So just like the Fronx, Taisor gets two engine options. First we have the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 88bhp and 113Nm of torque. This engine is mated with a manual and an AMT transmission. Next we have the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine which produces 99bhp & 148Nm of torque. With this engine you get a manual and a torque converter transmission options. Finally, the recently launched 1.2-litre CNG on the Fronx is also available with Taisor. For CNG, the 1.2-litre unit produces 76bhp & 98Nm of torque.
