5 Important Things New Maruti Swift Will Not Get

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift has been in the news for a few months now. It was first unveiled in the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show and was first launched in Japan and now in the UK. Now we do know the features the new Swift packs but there are a few important features which the Indian Spec car will not get.

New Maruti Swift – Features 

Talking about some known features of the new Swift, the hatchback now gets – 9.0-inch touchscreen system, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, electronic parking brake, heated and cool seats, 360-degree camera, ADAS, automatic climate control and a few more. Out of all these, there are 3 important features that will likely not come to India – 

Electronic Parking Brake

Maruti Swift competes with cars like Tata Tiago & Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and all these come at a similar price point. Adding a premium feature like the electronic parking brake will affect the pricing of the new Swift, making it costlier than the competitors. So to keep the cost in check, Maruti will not bring the electronic parking brake in India spec Swift.

ADAS

Another feature that could disrupt the pricing of the upcoming Maruti car is the ADAS. Internationally, the new Swift gets ADAS but to keep the pricing in control, Maruti will eliminate the ADAS for India. Apart from ADAS the new Swift will come with other safety features like 360-degree camera and blind view monitor which was spotted on a test car in India.

Heated Seats

The next feature we could miss on the new Swift is heated seats or even the ventilated seats function. Offering heated seats in India doesn’t really make sense, thanks to the hot climate of India. However, we could not even get the ventilated seats in India as it is expected that the new Swift will come with fabric seats. That said, we can expect it to come on its top-end models.

New Maruti Swift – Engine Specifications

For the 2023 Maruti Swift, Suzuki introduced the new Z-series engine. It is the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine which produces 80bhp & 108Nm of peak torque. Now for the international market, Suzuki is also offering hybrid powertrain which produces additional 3bhp & 60Nm of torque. Also, the international model gets an option for AWD system. But, both of these will not make its way to the India model.

AWD System

Along with the regular model of Suzuki Swift, the brand also sells the Swift Sport variant in international markets. For the sport variant, Suzuki offers an AWD system for an additional cost. Now if Maruti brings the new Swift with AWD, the cost will certainly rise and will not make any sense in India.

Hybrid Powertrain

Finally, the new Swift will not come with the hybrid powertrain in India. However, that is just for 2024-2025 models that will launch. According to reports, Maruti will be introducing the hybrid powertrain from 2026. It is said that all the current Maruti cars which are equipped with 1.2-litre K series engines will be replaced with the new 1.2-litre Z series engine. With that, Maruti will be able to introduce hybrid powertrain in all these cars. Also, if the recent news on relief on GST for hybrid cars is true, the new Swift or any hybrid car for that matter, will be priced similar to any petrol car in India.
