New Toyota 7-Seater Coming Soon
Earlier this month in March 2024, there were reports claiming a 7-seater EV MPV from Maruti Suzuki. Now, according to some reports, we will have this new EV MPV under the Toyota portfolio as well. Toyota is known to make some practical MPVs and so we can expect a better package with this new EV MPV too. So what all is known about the new Toyota 7-seater?

Toyota 7-Seater – New Details
Codenamed as YMC by Maruti, the new electric 7-seater will be based on the 27PL architecture. It is the same platform that also underpins the upcoming Maruti eVX or the Toyota Urban SUV Concept. The eVX or the Urban SUV Concept are highly expected to be launched by the end of 2024 or early 2025. Whereas the YMC is expected to come after a year and a half. That said, we could see its launch in the second half of 2026.

What to expect
Talking anything about YMC or Toyota’s MPV is too early as of now. We are yet to receive any details about any of these EVs. That said, we can expect both these MPVs to share its specifications with the eVX. The eVX or the Urban SUV Concept are expected to come with two battery pack options – a 40kWh and a 60kWh option. It should have a similar claimed range of 500km that is expected on the 60kWh option. To keep costs in check, other things like features and motors could be also shared with the eVX.
Toyota’s 7-seater plan
Apart from the upcoming EV MPV, Toyota has some plans for other 7-seaters in India. Firstly, we can expect Toyota to bring the 7-seater version of the Hyryder SUV. Again, it is the same Maruti-Toyota product as even the Grand Vitara will come in a 7-seater avatar. Also, we can see a true Toyota SUV which will be based on a ladder on frame platform and will be an affordable option for Toyota Fortuner.
