Tata Blackbird

With no news emerging and no concept, we are claiming that the Tata Blackbird is set to launch in 2024. But how? Well, the Blackbird was set to rival the Creta and other SUVs in the compact SUV segment when it was announced in 2019. But with no news on the model, we believe the Tata Curvv is the replacement by Tata Motors for the Blackbird SUV! So what exactly happened with the Blackbird?

What happened to Tata Blackbird?

Tata’s Creta rival, the Blackbird was a rebadged version of the Chery Tiggo 5x. Chery is a chinese company and Tata Motors had decided to partner with the brand to bring the rebadged version of the Tiggo 5x in India. However, due to geopolitical tensions between India and China, Tata Motors decided to drop the plans and focused on ‘Make In India’. That said, the partnership axed the project Blackbird which is today replaced by the upcoming Tata Curvv.

Talking about the Tata Curvv, the SUV will likely be based on Nexon’s X1 platform and will boast coupe-like SUV design. It will measure around 4.3-metres in length which is very similar to Creta. Also, the Curvv will offer multiple powertrain options like petrol, diesel, turbo petrol CNG (expected) and even in EV avatar. It will be a feature loaded SUV with a similar design that we can see on recent Tata SUVs.

Expected Launch

Tata Curvv is all set to be launched in the second half of 2024. Now although we are unknown with the exact month of launch, what we do know is that the Curvv will first launch as an EV and later with petrol and diesel engines. Now Tata being Tata, it will be interesting to see if they launch petrol and diesel Curvv on two separate occasions or at once!
