Tata Curvv Diesel

Talking about the diesel engine on the Tata Curvv, it will be the same unit that does duties for the Nexon. Meaning, the Curvv will be offered with the same 1.5-litre diesel engine of the Nexon. This engine produces 113bhp and 260Nm of peak torque. Now the press release has mentioned that this engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only. However, the Curvv being a premium product, Tata might offer the option of automatic transmission. But the Nexon is currently offered with an AMT and offering the same unit on the Curvv will not justify the pricing.

Tata Curvv Design

Along with the diesel engine specifications, we finally have the images of the Curvv. The images seem to be the production ready model of the Curvv and it does look very similar to the concept car showcased before. Up front, the Curvv comes with the vertical LED headlamps and Nexon-like connected LED DRLs at the top. The grille has been closed with the grille design inspired by the Tata Harrier facelift. The side profile gets sporty alloy wheels and flush door handles. Also, we can see the major design aspect of the SUV, the sloping roofline. We can also see the rear profile which reveals the connected LED tail lamps and a sportier rear spoiler. Overall, the Curvv looks stylish, sporty and futuristic with the coupe design.

Tata Curvv Dimensions

Talking about the dimensions of the Tata Curvv, the SUV measures 4308mm in length, 1810mm in width and 1630mm in height. The wheelbase is at 2560mm and will come with a boot space of 422 litres. Compared to the Creta facelift, the Curvv is smaller than 22mm in length, shorter than just 5mm with a shorter wheelbase of around 50mm. However, it is wider than Creta by 20mm.

Tata Curvv EV and Petrol Specifications

The Curvv EV could get a 50kWh battery pack with a claimed range of around 500kms. Whereas for the petrol version, Tata has two turbo petrol engines in their house – a 1.2-litre TGDi and a 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine. The 1.2-litre TGDi petrol is capable of producing 123bhp and 225Nm of torque. While the 1.5-litre TGDi unit is capable of producing the segment best 168bhp and 280Nm of torque. Now we expect Tata Motors to either offer both the petrol engines or the smaller 1.2-litre unit.

Expected Launch

Tata Curvv is all set to debut in 2024. That said, the SUV is expected to be launched in the second half of this year. Now although we are unknown with the exact month of launch, what we do know is that the Curvv will first launch as an EV and later with petrol and diesel engines. Now Tata being Tata, it will be interesting to see if they launch petrol and diesel Curvv on two separate occasions or at once!
