Tata is on the upward climb in the Indian market. It has upped its game in the C-SUV segment with the new Nexon. Now next up, the Harrier and Safari are going to get a major upgrade. The Safari is going to get a new exterior design. In line with that, new spy shots have revealed the connected tail lamp design and DRL design of the Tata Safari facelift. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Safari facelift.

New spy video

In the spy video, we can see the heavily camouflaged test mule of the Safari facelift. At the rear, we can see sleeker tail lamps compared to the current model. Through the camouflage, we can see the connected tail lamp setup. Overall Tata has also tweaked the tailgate design and bumpers. Not many changes can be seen in the side profile barring the alloy wheels. At the front, we again have a connected DRL design and LED headlamps. Tata has also updated the grille design and bumpers. The new front looks quite menacing and aggressive.

We also get a sneak peek into the interiors. In the interiors, we can see a floating infotainment system with minimal bezels. This seems to be the same infotainment system used on the Nexon.ev. We can also see the new touch-sensitive HVAC controls and digital instrument cluster. Other expected features include sequential turn indicators, electric tailgate etc.

Specifications

The Safari facelift will continue with the 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine. Its specs will remain the same at 167bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options will also continue to be manual and automatic gearboxes. What about the petrol engine? We recently interviewed Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. He clearly stated that the petrol engine will debut on the Curvv coming next year. So the Safari facelift will miss out on the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine at launch. However, later on we could see Tata give this petrol engine to Harrier and Safari.
